By Light Professional IT Services LLC readies warfighters and federal agencies with technology and systems engineered to connect, protect, and prepare individuals and teams for whatever comes next. Headquartered in McLean, VA, By Light supports defense, civilian, and commercial IT customers worldwide.


The Audio Visual Architect / Engineer will provide daily operation support to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Headquarters on Ft. Meade, Maryland.


  • Ability to troubleshoot complex audio, video, switching and control systems problems
  • Knowledge of standard software for DSP set-up, switcher set-up, etc.
  • Experience with Polycom/Cisco, Clearone, Biamp and similar products
  • Ability to design and engineer complete AV systems
  • Ability to lead design and coordination discussions for AV system installations.
  • Ability to create AV system design drawings in AutoCAD/Visio. Ability to create Architectural plans for Audio visual systems and modify architects drawings to incorporate AV systems.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of current and new AV technologies
  • Create equipment list for estimating based on functional needs of customer. Create rough-order-of-magnitude budget summaries.
  • Provide project managers and technical staff with technical support on projects with AV system designs
  • Provide details used for assembly and installation of audio, video, and control systems
  • Follow projects through installation to final acceptance
  • Review and approval of technical documents (Schematics, rack drawings, layout drawings and detailed technical info for IP systems) for handover to Project Management for deployment

  • Minimum of 10 years Audio Visual experience

  • 10+ years Design experience working with the AV Industry
  • Degree level qualified in a technical discipline or 4+ years professional AV industry field experience in implementation or system support.
  • CTS-D, CTS-I Certifications
  • Crestron Programmer Certification
  • Excellent communication skills, and confidence when dealing with demanding clients, building contractors, architects and other technical members of the project team.
  • 10+ years experience of successfully supporting installation teams with technical assistance and problem solving for professional AV equipment and systems.

Experience of key technologies such as:

  • Control (Crestron, AMX, Extron)
  • Audio (BIAMP, Shure, Crestron)
  • Video (1Beyond, Cisco, Crestron)
  • AVoIP Design and Deployment

  • Minimum SECRET clearance required; TS/SCI preferred

Salary Minimum: $115,000

Salary Maximum: $150,000
