Job description

SUMMARY

The primary responsibilities of the AV Houseman are to support the successful execution of events through the setup, maintenance, and teardown of audiovisual and event-related equipment, while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards throughout event spaces and back-of-house areas.

PAY RANGE:

$16-22 per hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Guest Service

  • Maintains guest service as the driving philosophy of the operation
  • Personally demonstrates a commitment to guest service in responding promptly to guests’ needs
  • Committed to making every guest is satisfied
  • Meets or exceeds guest satisfaction measures
  • Ensures hotel standards and services contribute to the delivery of consistent guest service

Event Support

  • Set up tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, and audiovisual systems and subsystems according to event diagrams and specifications.
  • Tear down and properly store equipment and supplies after events.
  • Follow event resumes, room diagrams, and verbal instructions to complete accurate setups.
  • Interact professionally with staff, event planners, and guests, responding promptly to needs and requests.
  • Perform light maintenance and repair tasks as assigned.

Facility Upkeep

  • Maintain cleanliness of event spaces, hallways, service corridors, and storage areas.
  • Keep all work and storage areas clean, organized, and free of obstructions.
  • Empty trash and operate various types of cleaning equipment as needed.
  • Assist with overall facility cleanliness before, during, and after events.

Teamwork and Communication

  • Follow directions from Event Managers, Assistant General Manager, Manager on Duty, or Department Manager.
  • Maintain a professional and service-oriented demeanor at all times.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow team members to ensure smooth and timely event execution.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in event setup, custodial work, or audiovisual support is a plus but not required.
  • Must be a reliable team player.

LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to read and comprehend room diagrams, simple instructions, event resumes, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, supervisors, and event staff.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to anticipate and solve problems quickly in a fast-paced environment.
