JOB SUMMARY


The Audio Engineer (A1) is responsible for delivering world-class audio experiences for both in-room and broadcast environments across all CBC campuses, services, conferences, and special events.


This role combines advanced live mixing, systems engineering, immersive audio technologies, broadcast integration, and technical leadership to create distraction-free worship experiences that

support ministry at the highest level. The ideal candidate understands that audio is more than technical execution - it is emotional support, clarity, atmosphere, storytelling, and leadership through sound.


This position requires a highly skilled engineer who thrives in fast-paced live production environments while maintaining excellence in preparation, communication, adaptability, and servant leadership. The Audio Engineer will work closely with worship leaders, production staff, volunteers, and creative teams to help deliver consistent and engaging experiences both in-room and online.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as lead A1 for weekend worship services, conferences, broadcasts, and special events

  • Mix high-level FOH, monitor, overflow, and broadcast audio environments

  • Deliver polished, balanced, and emotionally engaging mixes for:

  • Maintain sonic consistency across multiple venues and campus environments

  • Mix and optimize audio specifically for online and broadcast environments

  • Understand the operational and creative differences between FOH and broadcast mixing

  • Manage vocal intelligibility, tonal balance, dynamics, and loudness consistency across streaming platforms

  • Collaborate with video engineering and broadcast teams to maintain synchronization and minimize latency issues

  • Understand audio-for-video workflows including:

  • Embedded SDI audio

  • Dante network audio systems

  • Multitrack recording

  • Playback systems

  • Lip sync management

  • Streaming signal paths

  • Help create immersive worship experiences for In room/online audiences

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot advanced live audio systems including:

  • Yamaha Rivage console ecosystems

  • Yamaha DM7 console ecosystems

  • d&b Audiotechnik PA systems

  • d&b Soundscape immersive audio environments

  • Shure wireless microphone systems

  • Dante audio networking

  • RF coordination systems

  • Playback and recording systems

  • Configure and maintain Dante audio infrastructure and routing workflows across multiple venues

  • Coordinate wireless frequencies and RF environments for large-scale productions

  • Assist with PA optimization, gain structure management, and system tuning workflows

  • Troubleshoot complex signal flow and technical issues under live-event pressure

  • Maintain organized documentation including:

  • Patch sheets

  • Signal flow diagrams

  • System configurations

  • Equipment status reports

  • Ensure systems remain operationally reliable and service-ready

  • Record, edit, mix, and master audio for:

  • Video productions

  • Promotional content

  • Broadcast packages

  • Podcasts

  • Worship recordings

  • Support multitrack recording workflows and playback systems

  • Maintain organized session archives and audio assets

  • Assist in developing scalable playback and recording workflows for future production growth

  • Support guest artists, conferences, and special production environments with advanced preparation and execution

  • Serve as technical lead for smaller ministry events and gatherings

  • Adapt quickly between FOH, monitors, broadcast mixing, systems engineering, and production support roles

  • Cross-train in lighting, broadcast, and video systems to support overall production excellence

  • Help train and develop Audio All-Stars (volunteers) within CBC production culture and standards

  • Maintain calm, organized, and solutions-focused environments during high-pressure productions

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK


Regular full-time, 36-40 hours per week. Weekend services and special events are required as part of scheduled responsibilities. Must work flexible hours including evenings and conferences.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following:


  • Work extended periods on your feet in active live production environments, often during long services, rehearsals, and events. 

  • Lifting, carrying, and setting up audio and production equipment weighing up to 50 lbs

  • Navigating stages, platforms, and technical areas


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • 3+ years of live audio production experience preferred

  • Experience in church, touring, concert, or broadcast production environments strongly preferred

  • Relevant certifications or advanced live audio training considered a plus


REQUIRED SKILLS


  • Strong experience with professional digital audio consoles in live production environments

  • Experience operating Yamaha Rivage and Yamaha DM7 systems preferred

  • Advanced understanding of:

  • FOH mixing

  • Familiarity with Waves plugins, playback systems, multitrack recording, and audio postproduction workflows

  • Understanding of synchronization, latency management, and broadcast integration

  • Experience mentoring volunteers or technical team members

  • Familiarity with lighting and broadcast production systems
