Job Summary:

The Head of Audio is the primary interface for touring audio techs and the stagehands assigned to carry out their direction. You are responsible for the effective transmission of your tour contact's instructions, and the correct execution of all installation instructions. This role requires a blend of technical skill, troubleshooting & crew leadership.

This is a union stage crew role. Any successful candidate will be required to join IATSE Local #13 and fulfill membership requirements.

In-person interviews will be held the week of May 18-22, 2026. If selected for an interview, the recruitment team will coordinate a time and date with you that week.

General Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead audio engineer for high-profile concerts, corporate events, and school events, overseeing technical execution and ensuring seamless production quality across all venues
  • Ensure all department operations adhere to the IATSE collective bargaining agreement, including meal breaks, turnaround times, and safety regulations
  • Familiarity with the deployment of PA systems, monitors, and signal distribution networks (Dante, AVB, MADI)
  • Supervise the Audio Department staff and oversee union stagehands.
  • Work closely with the Head of Lighting and Stage Carpentry to ensure integrated production workflows
  • During installation, conduct routine inspections of consoles, microphones, cables, and amplifiers.
  • Maintain an accurate database of all house audio assets

Qualifications/Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum 57 years of experience as a professional A1 or Head of Audio in large-scale venues, touring productions, or live event environments
  • Experience managing union crews and/or overhire labor
  • Expert-level operation of digital mixing consoles (e.g., DiGiCo, Yamaha, Avid)
  • Advanced knowledge of networked audio protocols (Dante, AVB, etc.)
  • Proficiency with system measurement and optimization software (e.g., Smaart, Soundvision)
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure in live performance and broadcast environments
  • A background check will be initiated in accordance with state and federal law after a contingent offer of employment.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be comfortable working at heights (catwalks/truss)
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to stand for long periods during setup and show execution
