Field Communications Specialist
The Opportunity
Connects store teams to what matters most-clearly, quickly, and with purpose. As a Field Communications Specialist, you'll be at the center of how information flows across 650+ DSW and The Shoe Company stores in the U.S. and Canada. You'll shape messaging that helps teams execute with confidence, supports operational priorities, and keeps the customer experience front and center.
Brings clarity to complexity in a fast-moving retail environment. In this role, you'll partner across Store Operations and cross-functional teams to ensure the right message reaches the right audience at the right time. Your work will directly impact how store teams stay informed, engaged, and empowered to deliver results.
Supports connection and engagement beyond day-to-day communications. From key initiatives to meetings and events, you'll help create moments that strengthen how teams connect to the business and each other.
What You'll Be Doing
Drive Field Communication Strategy & Execution
  • Manage and coordinate store-level communications across 650+ locations in the U.S. and Canada
  • Maintain and optimize the store communication calendar to ensure clarity, timing, and alignment
  • Adapt messaging quickly to meet evolving business needs across multiple channels

Create Clear, Purposeful Messaging
  • Write and edit communications with clear intent for diverse audiences of up to 12,000 associates
  • Draft operational directives in partnership with Store Operations to ensure clarity and actionability
  • Maintain a consistent and authentic brand voice across all communications

Enable Two-Way Communication
  • Manage the store issue-resolution inbox to support timely responses and feedback loops
  • Gather input from store teams and cross-functional partners to refine messaging and priorities

Collaborate Across the Business
  • Partner with subject matter experts to develop communications supporting company initiatives
  • Align messaging with key operational priorities and business goals

Support Engagement & Events
  • Contribute to internal associate engagement initiatives that help motivate and inspire store teams
  • Assist with planning and logistics for leadership meetings and events

What You'll Need
Experience & Education
  • 3+ years of experience in an internal communications role
  • Retail store experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or equivalent work experience

  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging across multiple channels
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work aligned to business goals
  • Comfort communicating with all levels of leadership in a clear and professional manner
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
