Overview

The Senior Fleet Manager - Business Intelligence & Technology, is a high-impact leadership role reporting directly to the Fleet Director. This position bridges the gap between raw machine data and corporate execution, driving the strategy, architecture, and deployment of connected vehicle technologies, predictive data models, and enterprise analytics to optimize total cost of ownership (TCO) and operational safety. You will lead the design and execution of the enterprise telematics roadmap, engineer high-level business intelligence (BI) frameworks, and transform complex IoT data sets into actionable strategies. This role is highly visible, providing the critical data engineering and technological framework necessary to guide executive decisions regarding fleet electrification, risk mitigation, and asset lifecycle optimization.

Duties & Responsibilities

Technology Architecture & Telematics Ownership

  •  Lead the evaluation, deployment, and configuration of enterprise telematics platforms, electronic logging devices (ELD), advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and computer vision hardware.

  • Standardize API integrations and data flows between telematics hardware, enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms, and internal maintenance databases.

  • Partner with Corporate IT and InfoSec to ensure fleet data handling strictly complies with data governance and information security protocols.

  • Pilot emerging fleet technologies, managing relationships with hardware OEMs, software vendors, and third-party developers.

Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics

  • Design, build, and maintain automated enterprise dashboards in Power BI or Tableau to track key fleet metrics (e.g., fuel optimization, asset utilization, carbon emissions).

  • Develop advanced telemetry models using SQL to aggregate CAN-bus and SAE J1939 protocol data for heavy and light-duty machinery.

  • Implement predictive maintenance algorithms to identify vehicle degradation patterns and proactively prevent catastrophic roadside failures.

  • Create data-validated driver safety scorecards to benchmark behavior, harsh braking, speeding, and policy exceptions.

Strategic Optimization & Financial Planning

  • Deliver data-driven asset lifecycle recommendations directly to the Fleet Director, optimizing capital expenditure (CapEx) and vehicle replacement schedules.

  • Formulate the fleet electrification (EV) roadmap by executing feasibility analytics based on duty cycles, range limitations, and localized infrastructure costs.

  •  Translate complex data patterns into accessible insights and universal execution steps for regional operational managers and field teams.

Candidate Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, Statistics, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related quantitative field.

Experience

  • Experience: 5–7 years managing connected fleet architectures, logistics analytics, or transport-focused systems engineering.

  • Certifications: Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) via NAFA or recognized professional certifications in advanced data analytics/data engineering

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency in SQL database manipulation and enterprise BI visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).

  •  Domain Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of commercial telematics hardware,  Compliance Foundations: Thorough understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) mandates, Hours of Service (HOS) tracking, and safety compliance.

  • Leadership: Proven track record of managing cross-functional technical initiatives and presenting highly analytical findings to executive leadership

Base Pay RangeYearly: $125,300.00 - $162,800.00

While starting pay falls within the given range, it can vary based on factors like geographic location, skills, education, and experience. Total earnings may also be affected by overtime, incentives, commissions, performance, and route assignment (where applicable).
