Regional Operations Manager - Metal Recycling - Base Salary to 240k/year - Gary, IN

  • Our client, a leading ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal processor, is seeking an experienced Regional Operations Manager to oversee multi-site operations across the Midwest region. This position will be based out of either the Gary, Indiana or St. Paul, Minnesota area and will be responsible for operational performance, safety, environmental programs, maintenance, capital projects, growth, and continuous improvement across multiple facilities.
  • This role requires significant management experience within the scrap or steel industry, including multi-site operations leadership, management of supervisors, maintenance oversight, safety and environmental programs, and ferrous scrap processing operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee operations and maintenance across multiple Midwest scrap metal processing facilities
  • Manage and provide operational oversight to supervisors and local management teams
  • Partner with the regional commercial team to support sales objectives and operational requirements
  • Implement and maintain safety, environmental, operations, and maintenance policies and procedures
  • Oversee safety and environmental programs across regional facilities
  • Plan capital budgets and coordinate capital projects and capital expenditures across the region
  • Monitor plant maintenance, equipment reliability, and operational performance
  • Travel to regional facilities to support local management and operational requirements
  • Drive process improvement, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives
  • Support regional growth, operational improvements, and implementation of new processes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • 10+ years of management experience within the scrap or steel industry
  • Supervisory experience, including management of supervisors
  • Multi-site operations management experience
  • Operations experience with maintenance knowledge
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental programs
  • Ferrous scrap processing experience
  • Process improvement experience, including Six Sigma, 5S, or related methodologies
  • Must be located in NW Indiana or the St. Paul, Minnesota area, or willing to relocate

Compensation:

  • Base salary in the 200k - 240k/year range, plus an annual bonus. Our client also offers individualized health benefits and 401k with a company match.
