How much does a Realtor make off of a $300,000 house?

A Realtor typically earns a commission split from the total sale price, which is often around 5-6%. For a $300,000 house, this could amount to approximately $15,000 to $18,000 in gross commission, with the Realtor receiving a portion after brokerage splits. Actual earnings depend on the agreed commission rate, the number of agents involved, and any negotiated splits or fees.

What Is a Realtor?

A realtor assists a client in the purchase, sale, or rental of property, such as commercial buildings, homes, or land. As a realtor, you have a number of duties and responsibilities. Most realtors work on commission, so your primary concern is to attract new clients who want to sell, rent, or buy property and are willing to pay for your assistance in doing so. You perform market research and analysis to determine competitive prices for each listing. You also take your clients to visit properties and assess how their needs can be met within their budget. Realtors also negotiate sales on behalf of their clients and draw up the legal paperwork needed to complete sales.

How to make $100,000 your first year in real estate?

Realtors can reach a $100,000 income in their first year by building a strong client base, focusing on high-value transactions, and consistently generating leads through networking, marketing, and online tools. Success also depends on market conditions, commission rates, and effective time management to close enough deals quickly.

How much money do most realtors make?

Most realtors earn a commission-based income that varies widely depending on location, experience, and sales volume. According to industry data, the median annual income for real estate agents is around $50,000, but top performers can earn over $100,000 or more annually. Income often depends on the number of transactions completed and the commission rates negotiated.

What is the difference between Realtor vs Real Estate Agent?

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Realtor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Realtor, you need a deep understanding of real estate laws, local market trends, and strong sales acumen, typically demonstrated by a valid real estate license. Familiarity with MLS databases, CRM software, and digital marketing platforms is essential for managing listings and client relationships. Exceptional interpersonal skills, negotiation abilities, and attention to detail help Realtors build trust and close successful deals. These competencies are crucial for providing excellent client service, maximizing sales opportunities, and ensuring legal compliance in real estate transactions.

What are some common challenges Realtors face when managing multiple clients and how can they effectively prioritize their workload?

Realtors often juggle the needs of several clients at once, from buyers seeking showings to sellers expecting timely updates. Balancing these demands can be challenging, especially during peak market periods. Effective Realtors prioritize tasks by maintaining organized schedules, communicating proactively with clients, and utilizing customer relationship management (CRM) tools to track progress and deadlines. Setting clear expectations and routinely updating clients helps ensure smooth transactions and fosters trust, ultimately leading to better client satisfaction and referrals.

What is a Realtor?

A Realtor is a licensed real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), which upholds a strict code of ethics and standards of practice. Realtors help clients buy, sell, and rent properties, and they may also offer advice on market conditions, prices, and mortgages. Unlike generic real estate agents, only members of NAR can use the title 'Realtor.' Working with a Realtor provides clients with expertise and a commitment to ethical service during real estate transactions.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A realtor can earn $10,000 or more per month through commissions on property sales, especially in high-value markets. Success depends on sales skills, networking, and market knowledge, with no formal degree required but often a real estate license is necessary.

Job description

Realtor
Department: Sales
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Remote - US/Canada
Reporting To: Brittany Bissey - Vice President, Brokerage
Compensation: $150,000 - $300,000 / year
Description
Real Estate Agent
Position: Real Estate Agent - Luxury + STR Investment Specialist
Company: Home Team Luxury Realty (HTLR), part of The Rise Collective
Role type: Independent Contractor (1099) where HTLR is licensed (see 'Locations'); Referral Partner Agent in other states
Reports to: VP of Brokerage / Market Leadership
Home Team Luxury Realty is an STR-focused luxury brokerage supporting investors acquiring and selling short-term rental properties nationwide through a networked model of in-brokerage agents and referral partners. HTLR operates alongside other Rise Collective brands that support the STR investor journey (education, acquisition support, and related services).
The Real Estate Agent is responsible for delivering a high-trust, high-urgency client experience to STR investors. This role requires strong contract execution, STR-specific diligence awareness, and consultative guidance on market risk factors that impact short-term rental viability.
Why This Opportunity Is Different:
We provide consistent, high-quality investor leads through our national ecosystem. The agents within our ecosystem have produced $20M+ annually in their local market from company-generated investor leads alone. You are not building from scratch - you are plugging into a proven investor acquisition engine. This is not a traditional brokerage environment. We are building a specialized STR investment platform with high standards and high upside.
We're building a high-performing agent roster in multiple territories to serve STR investor demand.
Locations:
  • We are actively recruiting agents to join our brokerage in the following states:
    • High Priority:
      • Asheville, North Carolina (NC)
      • Broken Bow, Oklahoma (OK)
      • Blue Ridge Mountains, Georgia (GA)
      • Poconos, Pennsylvania (PA)
      • Sevierville Area, Tennessee (TN)
      • Greater West Palm Beach, Florida (FL)
      • Hocking Hills, Ohio (OH)
      • Indianapolis, Indiana (IN)
    • Lower Priority
      • San Antonio, Texas (TX)
  • All other states: We are onboarding referral partner agents in targeted STR markets. Agents who consistently close investor transactions may have the opportunity to transition into a leadership role if/when we launch a brokerage entity in their state.

You'll thrive in this role if you:
  • Want to become the go-to STR investor agent in your market (not a generalist).
  • Know how to consult on regulations, permitting, zoning/HOA risk, and investment performance - and you can explain it clearly to buyers.
  • Move fast, follow a process, and keep deals tight from offer to close.
  • Want to plug into a brand ecosystem with investor demand and long-term growth upside.

Performance expectations: This role is designed for agents who want to produce $10M-$20M+ annually with structured investor demand.
  • Speed-to-lead, consult completion rate, offer-to-close execution quality
  • Client satisfaction and repeat/referral outcomes
  • Compliance adherence and clean file management

Commission-based; structure varies by market and role (HTLR agent vs referral partner).
Key Responsibilities
Client advisory & conversion
  • Conduct buyer consultations and intake; clarify buy box, financing readiness, and STR intent
  • Provide consultative guidance around STR feasibility and market dynamics (without practicing law)

Transaction execution
  • Manage all stages: showings โ†’ offer strategy โ†’ negotiation โ†’ contract execution โ†’ contingency management โ†’ close
  • Coordinate with lenders, inspectors, title/attorneys, vendors, and internal teams as needed
  • Maintain on-time deadlines and accurate documentation

STR-specific diligence support
  • Identify common STR risk areas: HOA/CC&Rs, local STR rules, permitting considerations, zoning overlays, property constraints
  • Escalate legal/regulatory questions to the appropriate professional and document guidance provided

Process & reporting
  • Track pipeline and client status consistently (weekly updates, CRM/task discipline)
  • Maintain professional communication standards and responsiveness

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Active real estate license in assigned state/market
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and transaction management skills
  • High integrity and client-first professionalism

Preferred:
  • 3-5+ years experience; consistent production; investor transactions strongly preferred
  • Proven knowledge of STR investing or a clear STR specialization plan

What HTLR Provides:
  • Consistent, investor-qualified lead flow
  • Structured intake + buy box framework
  • National brand positioning within STR space
  • Operational support and brokerage leadership
  • Opportunity for market leadership as we expand
