Location: NE Atlanta, GA 30319

Hours: Monday-Friday 7 am- 4 pm

Salary: $52,000.00-$58,000.00 per year

Summary:

Manages and supervises the environmental services staff in Atlanta, GA according to policies and procedures, and federal/state requirements. Provides leadership, support, coordination and guidance to ensure that quality standards, inventory levels, safety guidelines and customer service expectations are met. The Manager is also responsible for coordinating and insuring the satisfactory and timely completion of project and program work done in the building on varying shifts. Maintains records of income and expenditures, supplies, personnel and equipment.

Secures and assures that all equipment is maintained and in working order. Makes sure facility has sufficient janitorial supplies. Takes periodic inventories of supplies and materials, trains new employees, and recommends dismissals. Acts as liaison between building occupants or administrators and staff. The Manager must be able to communicate effectively all directives from managers, building occupants and administrators to staff. Is able to perform the job assignments of the light housekeeper, heavy housekeeper, laundry worker and personal clothing worker. Training, quality control and in-servicing staff is an essential part of the Manager’s responsibility and includes touring building several times per day to assess work quality. The Manager is a department head in the facility and must conduct themselves and their department in a professional manner.

JOB FUNCTION

People Management & Development.

  • Interviews, hires and orients housekeeping, floor care and laundry (Environmental Services) staff.
  • Drives employee engagement through Company recognition program/s.
  • Communicates between various shifts to ensure completion of tasks.
  • Maintains proper staffing levels; scheduling all Environmental Services staff.
  • Supervises, coordinates and evaluates work of all Environmental Services employees, delegating work equally among employees.
  • Trains workers in housekeeping, floor care and laundry methods and procedures and proper operation of equipment.
  • Issues janitorial and/or laundry supplies and equipment to workers to ensure quality and timely delivery of services.
  • Daily inspections and follows through on all assignments, directives and projects to ensure task completion
  • Cross trains and develops personnel for multiple positions/duties.
  • All other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Financial Management

  • Conducts planning and budgeting.
  • Manages a cost-effective environmental services program.
  • Forecasts and plans the purchase of cleaning supplies, chemicals and equipment.
  • Maintains required records including but not limited to: inventory, compliance, income/expense, and personnel records.
  • All other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Customer Service

  • Ensures that established sanitation and safety standards are maintained.
  • Interacts appropriately with residents, client, other personnel, District Manager and the public.
  • Responds to customer preferences, complies with industry and federal and state guidelines, and meets the needs of residents.
  • Must respond to the paging system in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • All other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Safety and Other

  • Ability to perform the job assignments of the Light Housekeeper, Heavy Housekeeper, Laundry Worker and Personal Clothing worker as necessary.
  • Ability to recognize hazards and follow appropriate protective equipment measures, read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) sheets, and communicate/train employees as to such.
  • The ability to handle and mix chemicals safely and properly.
  • Develops, maintains and implements infection control and universal precautions policies and procedures to ensure that a sanitary environment is maintained at all times and that all environmental services personnel follow proper reporting, isolation and hand washing procedures/techniques.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/WORK EXPERIENCE

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Two years experience in environmental services in a healthcare environment and personnel supervision is desired.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Must provide a criminal background check.

KNOWLEDGE,, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Degree level*/Area: High School Diploma or equivalent and two years experience preferred, or any equivalent experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Certificates: None.
  • Licenses: None, but must be able to meet attendance requirements.
  • * Acceptable minimum equivalent experience in place of diploma/GED: 2 years.

The account manager must possess the following:

  • Skilled in motivating and supervising housekeeping, laundry and floor care personnel.
  • General knowledge and understanding of housekeeping, laundry and floor care.
  • Ability to understand and place into action basic infection control procedures.
  • The ability to handle and mix chemicals safely and properly.
  • Ability to work all shifts as needed.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping, laundry and floor care program requirements.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use all department equipment.
  • Ability to maintain records and complete reports as required.
  • Written and oral communication and teaching skills.
  • An understanding of housekeeping, laundry and floor care program finances.
  • Skill in using public relations techniques (diffusing situations) to promote the environmental services program to client and residents.
  • Ability to interact positively with residents, client and other personnel and the public.
  • Computer software (please specify): ability to become proficient within first 3 months of introduction of any computer and computer software provided to improve recordkeeping and efficiency.
