Job Title: Purchasing Manager

Position Summary

Carroll Distributing & Construction Supply, Inc's Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of products to support operations across Carroll's multiple Construction Supply store locations. This role ensures the timely, cost-effective, and strategic sourcing of materials while maintaining optimal inventory levels, strong vendor relationships, and alignment with company goals for profitability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies to support 37 Carroll store locations, ensuring consistent product availability and inventory optimization
  • Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with vendors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and reliable supply
  • Analyze purchasing data, sales trends, and inventory levels to forecast demand and prevent stockouts or overstock situations
  • Collaborate with store managers, operations, and sales teams to understand product needs and regional demand variations
  • Monitor and manage inventory turns, fill rates, and purchasing performance indicators to drive operational efficiency
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities, including bulk purchasing, vendor consolidation, and alternative sourcing strategies
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of purchasing data within Prelude ERP Accounting System.
  • Stay informed on market trends, material pricing fluctuations, and supply chain risks within the construction industry
  • Lead, mentor, and develop purchasing staff as needed


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in construction materials, building supply, or distribution environments
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
  • Proven ability to manage purchasing across multiple locations or a large-scale operation
  • Experience with ERP systems and inventory management tools
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
