Job description

Overview
The Associate Director, Medical Publications - TTR Franchise supports the strategic development and execution of the global medical publication plan for Alnylam's transthyretin amyloidosis (TTR) franchise. Reporting to the Director, Medical publications - TTR Franchise, this role contributes to the planning, coordination, and delivery of high-impact publications supporting Alnylam's medical strategy across cardiomyopathy and neuropathy programs.
As part of the Scientific Communications organization within Medical Affairs, the Associate Director partners closely with with cross-functional stakeholders including Medical Directors, Clinical Development, Biostatistics, Scientific Communications, Legal, and Commercial teams to develop a global publication strategy, and ensure timely, accurate, and compliant dissemination of clinical and scientific data though peer-reviewed publications and presentations at major scientific congresses.
This is a highly collaborative and visible role requiring strong scientific expertise, operational excellence, and the ability to manage complex publication activities in a global matrixed environment.
This is a hybrid position located in Cambrige, MA.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and execution of the global TTR publication strategy aligned with medical affairs objectives and franchise priorities.
  • Lead assigned components of the global publication plan across the lifecycle of evidence generation, including abstracts, posters, oral presentations, manuscripts, and plain language summaries.
  • Partner with Medical Directors, Clinical Development, and Biostatistics teams to identify publication opportunities aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional publication planning activities and contribute to Publication Working Group (PWG) operations.
  • Collaborate with external authors, investigators, and key opinion leaders to support development and delivery of scientific publications.
  • Manage medical writing agencies and publication vendors to ensure high-quality and timely execution of deliverables.
  • Ensure all publication activities comply with GPP, GPCAP, ICMJE criteria, and internal governance requirements.
  • Maintain publication timelines, trackers, and documentations within publications management systems.
  • Represent Medical Publications in cross-functional discussions supporting evidence dissemination planning.
  • Support Publication Steering Committees where applicable.
  • Lead and mentor junior publication team members and foster a culture of scientific excellence and integrity.
  • Demonstrate alignment with Alnylam core values in all internal and external interactions.

Qualifications
  • PhD (preferred) or PharmD/MD with 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, or medical agency.
  • ISMPP Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) certification - preferred.
  • Prior medical affairs, medical communications, publications, agency and/or KOL management experience - required.
  • Prior experience in rare disease, cardiology, neurology or RNA-based therapeutics - preferred.
  • Experience supporting publication strategy and execution for a complex, global program - required.
  • Strong working knowledge of GPP, GPCAP, ICMJE criteria, and industry best practices for publications - required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, matrixed environment - required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience interacting with scientific experts and senior stakeholders - required.
  • Team management and project management experience - preferred.
  • Occasional travel (approximately 2-6 times per year), including weekends, to congresses or other scientific meetings required.

U.S. Pay Range
$173,700.00 - $235,100.00
The pay range reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).
