The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach, exceptional writing and project management skills, and the ability to produce high-quality, accurate material with remarkable speed.

Key Responsibilities

Proposal Development and Management

  • Manage the entire lifecycle of the proposal process, from initial scoping to confirmation of delivery, for complex RFPs, RFIs, informal requests, and other client-facing opportunities.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, practice group leaders, marketing and business development team members, and key internal departments (including pricing, Knowledge Management, IT, HR, and the Office of the General Counsel) to develop highly tailored responses.
  • Draft, edit, and finalize persuasive and tailored proposal content, including executive summaries, firm overviews, attorney bios, practice and industry content, experience lists, and key firm differentiators.
  • Confirm compliance with RFP requirements, including format, deadlines, and submission requirements.

Collaboration and Strategy

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to attorneys on proposal strategy and positioning that aligns with the firm’s brand and long-term goals.
  • Assist in tracking and reporting on proposal metrics and ROI.
  • Use research tools (such as LexMachina and IBISWorld) to gather relevant information for proposal content.
  • Quickly produce and review drafts with a strong sense of personal responsibility.

Project Management

  • Manage multiple, concurrent proposal projects under tight deadlines with shifting priorities
  • Coordinate input from attorneys and other key members of the response to ensure timely delivery of all proposal sections, as well as the overall response.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field.
  • Advanced degree or legal industry certifications (e.g., APMP, JD, MBA) a plus.

Experience

  • 6+ years of experience in proposal writing and management, preferably within a law firm, professional services firm, or other B2B environment.
  • Experience responding to complex RFPs for legal services or similar professional services clients.
  • Experience with online purchasing systems and other procurement-driven processes.

Skills

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities; able to handle multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with CRM tools such as Foundation and OnePlace would be helpful.
  • Knowledge of legal industry trends, client expectations, and competitive landscape.

Attributes

  • Highly responsive in terms of speed and accuracy
  • Detail-oriented and deadline-driven
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinker with a client-centric mindset and ability to influence stakeholders
  • Ability to see both the details (including grammar and other rules), as well as the larger, strategic considerations for each request

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $125,000. Actual base pay within this range will be determined by several components, including but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, internal equity, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
