Job description

JOIN OUR TEAM AS A JOCKEY DRIVER AT PACIFIC RAIL SERVICES
Norfolk Southern Portlock Terminal – Norfolk, VA.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Role: Jockey Driver (Hostler / Ground Person).
Location: Norfolk Southern Portlock Terminal – Norfolk, VA.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Operate a jockey truck to move 53-foot trailers, containers, and chassis within the rail yard.
  • Perform ground duties such as climbing railcars, operating track locks, and handling Inner Box Connectors (IBCs).
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment by working alongside operators and using hand signals.
  • Participate in stacking and unstacking chassis and organizing racks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support daily operations.

SCHEDULE:
  • Start time: 5:00 AM daily.
  • Hours: Work continues until the job is complete.
  • Typical shifts range from 8 to 12 hours per day.
  • Overtime is common and increases earning potential.

PAY AND ADVANCEMENT:
  • Starting Pay: $21.00 per hour.
  • Annual Raises: Employees are eligible for a 5% pay increase each year on the anniversary of the union contract dated January 23rd through 2030.
  • Strong opportunity to increase earnings over time through raises and overtime.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must live within 45 minutes of Norfolk, VA (no relocation assistance available).

You will be employed directly by Pacific Rail Services, not Norfolk Southern Railroad.
