HOCS Projects is an industry leader in delivering innovative engineering solutions for the oil & gas and industrial sectors. We are seeking an Intermediate Project Engineer to support project execution and management activities across a range of engineering projects. This role is ideal for a communications and technically strong professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment and is committed to delivering high-quality, predictable project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Support project execution under the direction of the Project Manager, taking ownership of multi-discipline project coordination and delivery within defined scope and schedule.
  • Assist in the planning and execution phases of projects, including:
    • Coordination and review of Project Documents/Engineering Deliverables
    • Project metrics tracking and log management.
    • Development/Support of cost estimates and project schedules
    • Oversight of deliverable quality and timely issuance
    • Identification and resolution of design issues or execution barriers
    • Project Management of Change (MOC)
  • Maintain oversight of technical and commercial scope changes, tracking all modifications to project baselines and documentation.
  • Monitor project performance to ensure alignment with cost, schedule, and quality targets.
  • Ensure that all engineering work complies with regulatory, code, and project-specific requirements.
  • Organize and participate in routine project review meetings with clients and internal teams.
  • Generate and distribute regular project status reports, capturing progress, risks, and key milestones.
  • Serve as a liaison between engineering disciplines, department leads, and other key project stakeholders.
  • Act as a primary technical point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Travel to project sites when required to support engineering execution, field coordination, or client engagement.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited university with a B.Sc. in Engineering or from an accredited engineering technology program.
  • A minimum of five years of experience, including relevant project management and controls, and budget and schedule experience.
  • Current registration with APEGA as an EIT or P.Eng will be considered an asset.
  • Fabrication / construction experience will be considered an asset.
  • Strong English oral and written communication skills required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated initiative, self-management, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Effective team player who works well independently.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Exercises good judgment with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project. Advanced to expert-level Excel proficiency required.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada (citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit).
