Role Summary
The Moderator will work directly with onsite participants and their pets (dogs and cats) to ensure the proper execution of study and project requirements. The primary responsibility is to moderate user sessions involving pet interactions, ensuring comfort and safety for both participants and animals, while providing updates to other members of the production team. The Moderator will also perform very basic troubleshooting of data collection technology used during the sessions.
Role Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain data collection equipment, offload data, manage logistics, provide daily reports, and lead the overall high-quality data generation for this effort, day in and day out

  • Understand provided project documentation to assist participants and ensure smooth data collection sessions involving pets (dogs and cats)

  • Interact with participants and their pets, guiding them through the data collection process and ensuring a safe, comfortable environment for both

  • Capture data for the assigned project, aiming to reach the targeted daily goal while maintaining data quality standards

  • Utilize client tools to label/tag collected data accurately

  • Convey session details, participant updates, and any pet-related notes to the Project Manager and Production team

  • Communicate and coordinate closely with the broader project team to maintain alignment on procedures and timelines

  • Interact with various hardware and software used for data collection and recording

  • Assist in preparing session materials and setting up the facility to accommodate both participants and animals

  • Set up studio lighting equipment to ensure optimal illumination during data collection sessions

  • Validate color spectra using a spectrometer to ensure lighting accuracy and consistency

  • Validate light intensity values using a luxmeter to meet project specifications

  • Monitor and manage participant and pet flow within the site to maintain schedule efficiency

  • Address participant questions and concerns in a professional and courteous manner

  • Provide feedback on session dynamics, participant engagement, and pet behavior observations

  • Responsible for overseeing site setup and teardown activities, ensuring all event spaces, equipment, and materials are prepared and dismantled efficiently and according to operational standards

  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs when needed

Role Requirements – Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, communications, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted

  • Experience in moderation, facilitation, proctoring, required

  • Experience with lighting for film or photography (amateur or professional) is strongly preferred; for example, setting up studio lighting, validating color spectra using a spectrometer, and measuring light intensity with a lux meter.
