HOPE Residents
OVERVIEW
HOPE Residents is a leadership development community committed to cultivating and commissioning future missional leaders to fulfill Christ's calling. Residents are embedded in the life of Hope Church in Richmond, Virginia.
A HOPE Resident experiences a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic local church, with a specific focus on planning and leading in a particular ministry focus area. Residents will be integral to the selected ministry team, actively engaging in discipleship, care, teaching, and leadership, while also receiving intentional mentorship and exposure to various aspects of church ministry.
The residency is designed as a progressive, hands-on experience in which residents assume increasing ministry responsibility while growing in theological knowledge, leadership capacity, and spiritual maturity. Upon completion, residents will be prepared to pursue vocational ministry, church leadership, church planting, missions, or other forms of Christian leadership wherever God calls them.
MINISTRY FOCUS AREAS
Worship Arts, Family Ministry, Pastoral
IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Growing in a committed relationship with Jesus
  • Recent college graduate with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree
  • Sensing a call toward vocational ministry
  • Demonstrates humility, teachability, and a desire for growth

YEAR 1 RESIDENT
  • 20 paid hours per week at HOPE
    • Personal and ministry mentoring
    • Leadership and ministry training
    • Ministry work in focus area
  • Maintain a part-time job outside of HOPE to build relationships and engage the surrounding community
  • Optional seminary class or certificate class
  • Introduction to various ministry areas

YEAR 2 RESIDENT
  • 35 paid hours per week total
    • 25-30 hours ministry work in focus area
    • Approximately 10 hours leadership development
  • Supplemental income through fundraising - fundraising bootcamp and coaching included
  • Seminary class or certificate class included
