Job description

The Director of Store Support is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the support functions crucial to store operations. This role ensures that store managers and their teams receive the necessary resources, training, and assistance to deliver exceptional customer experiences and achieve operational excellence. The Director of Store Support will lead a team of support specialists, which includes services, small wares, supplies, project management, innovation, budgeting, and labor. In addition, they would develop strategic initiatives to streamline processes and act as a liaison between the stores and corporate departments.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance store support functions and improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align store support initiatives with overall business goals.


Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of store support specialists and coordinators.
  • Foster a collaborative environment and drive performance through coaching and development.


Process Improvement:

  • Analyze store support processes to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices.
  • Develop and oversee training programs to ensure store teams are well-equipped to handle support-related tasks.


Resource Allocation:

  • Manage the allocation of resources, including technology and tools, to support store operations.
  • Ensure stores have access to the necessary equipment and systems to perform efficiently.


Operational Support:

  • Provide guidance and troubleshooting support for store operations, including resolving escalated issues.
  • Work closely with store managers to understand their needs and address operational challenges.


Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Act as a liaison between store operations and other departments, including IT, HR, and supply chain.
  • Coordinate with corporate departments to ensure store needs are communicated and addressed.


Performance Metrics:

  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of store support initiatives.
  • Prepare and present reports on support operations and improvement strategies to senior management.


Budget Management:

  • Oversee the budget for store support functions, including planning and monitoring expenditures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in retail operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial or director-level role.
