Job description

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Program Manager (PgM)
Location: On-Site Washington, DC
Department: Veterans Affairs (VA)
Type: Full Time
Min. Experience: Experienced

Salary Range: $106,292 - $150,000

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage staff and processes
  • Evaluate department activities
  • Plan, direct, and oversee the operations and fiscal health of units, divisions, and/or departments
  • Provide oversight of the service delivery teams and ensure that they fulfill all the specified contractual requirements
  • Ensure that the services delivered meet the team's high standards of quality
  • Ensure all contractually required deliverables are prepared and undergo quality assurance reviews ahead of a timely submission
  • Develop the master integrated plan that combines all the individual project plans the service delivery teams are responsible for executing
  • Ensure the plans are communicated and agreed to with the customer and that the delivery teams have the staff and resources necessary to execute
  • Coordinate with corporate Program Management Office (PMO) to ensure delivery teams are utilizing the standard processes, forms, templates for internal support requests, deliverables required at the top contract level, Task Order (TO) financial tracking and forecasting, and corporate progress and status reporting
  • Manage all direct labor costs associated with the contract and ensure the incurred costs remain within budget
  • Ensure resources assigned to the contract have the technical abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of their roles
  • Ensure all program-related deliverables such as Reports, Design Documents, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), etc., required of the contract are prepared in advance of the contractually specified due dates to allow enough time for a quality review prior to delivery to the customer
  • Communicates directly with the customer to ensure they are satisfied with the quality of the services the delivery team is providing. If the customer is dissatisfied, the PgM informs the corporate leadership and assists in the development of action plans to resolve current issues and mitigate future ones
  • Routinely prepare reports and deliver status and progress review presentations to corporate leadership
  • Develop the communications plan and manage to it in the execution of the TO to ensure all information is disseminated accordingly
  • Identifies internal and external Risk and enter risks and mitigations into both the customer's and team's Risk and Issues tracking systems
  • Coach and mentor the junior subordinate Project Managers on the team in the performance of their duties and help them deliver individual career development goals and plans
  • Ensure there are succession plans in place for any Key personnel on the delivery team and identify cross-training opportunities to ensure there is no critical role or capability that is single threaded through one individual contributor
