TITLE: Library Media Aide

ENTITY: Notre Dame Parish School, Denver, Colorado - Archdiocese of Denver

SCHEDULE: Full-Time, Monday - Friday when school is in session

PAY: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour


THE POSITION: The Library Media Aide is a qualified professional who meets the requirements to work in a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Denver. The Library Media Aide is hired by and directly accountable to the principal.


The Library Media Aide is expected to abide by the policies and procedures of the local school, the Archdiocese of Denver, and the Office of Catholic Schools. The Library Media Aide Aide cooperates with the Principal and staff in providing an environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education.


The Library Media Aide:


  • Assists students with checking books in and out of the library and maintaining library organization and circulation systems
  • Supervises students during independent educational technology enrichment time using programs such as Lexia, Freckle Math, and other online learning platforms
  • Supports teachers and students in accessing educational materials and technology resources
  • Assists with maintaining a welcoming, organized, and safe library environment
  • May provide classroom supervision and substitute teaching support as assigned


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Library and Instructional Support

  • Assist students and staff with locating, checking in, and checking out library materials.
  • Organize, shelve, inventory, and maintain library books, media, and instructional resources.
  • Support student reading engagement and encourage appropriate book selection.
  • Assist in preparing library displays, bulletin boards, and learning materials.
  • Operate and care for library and instructional technology equipment.


Student Technology Enrichment Supervision

  • Supervise students during independent educational technology enrichment periods.
  • Assist students with logging into and appropriately using programs such as Lexia, Freckle Math, and other curricular enrichment platforms.
  • Monitor student engagement, behavior, and responsible technology use.
  • Communicate student concerns or technology issues to teachers and administration as needed.


Classroom and School Support

  • Assist teachers with instructional and clerical tasks as assigned.
  • Supervise students during non-instructional times, including transitions, dismissal, assemblies, and other school activities.
  • Provide substitute classroom coverage when needed, following lesson plans and school procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive learning environment.
  • Support the mission and daily life of the school through flexibility and collaborative service.


Professional Responsibilities

  • Participate in professional development and required in-service training.
  • Follow all communicated school policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, initiative, confidentiality, and ethical behavior.
  • Maintain positive and respectful relationships with students, families, faculty, and staff.
  • Successfully complete all Archdiocese-required Safe Environment training and background checks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.

Requirements

 Qualifications and Competencies

  • High school diploma required; college coursework or experience in education, library services, or child supervision preferred
  • Experience working with children in a school or parish setting preferred
  • Basic technology proficiency and willingness to learn educational software platforms
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Be a fully initiated Catholic in communion with the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043)
  • Refrain from promotion or approval of any conduct or lifestyle contrary to Catholic doctrine or morals or that may cause scandal in relation to the mission of the Archdiocese of Denver

Physical Requirements

  • Requires lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and supervise students throughout the school day
  • Ability to execute appropriate safety and emergency procedures, including leading evacuations and providing basic first aid
