Job description

Position Purpose:
Responsible for the day-to-day management of the production floor though supervision, development and training of the production team which includes approximately 20-30 associates. In addition, it is responsible for the efficient movement of product through the plant with a focus on quality and timeliness. Reports to the Plant Manager.
Pay Range: $75,000 - $95,000 annually- Plus Quarterly Bonus
Schedule: 3rd Shift | Monday-Thursday | 4-Day Work Week
Hours: 4:30 PM - 5:00 AM
Duties & Responsibilities:
Tasks related to this position may vary and are not limited to those listed below:
โ€ข Follows established safety rules, policies and procedures at all times
โ€ข Directs supervision of production staff including: training associates, planning, assigning and directing work; performance appraisals ; rewarding and disciplining associates; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading associates to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance
โ€ข Maintains efficient workflows by monitoring processes and variables; implements cost reductions; develops reporting procedures and systems
โ€ข Completes production plan by establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising production schedules, resolving problems and reporting results or issues
โ€ข Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs and preventative maintenance; assists in troubleshooting machine issues
โ€ข Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests
โ€ข Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, budgetary and personnel requirements
โ€ข Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing associates on the use of all equipment and safety protocols
โ€ข Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications
โ€ข Assists with hands-on operation of machines, including operating and feeding large press machines that requires a full awareness of surroundings, machine pinch points and safety protocols
โ€ข Maintains inventories of sheets, inks and other converting supplies
โ€ข Reports quality concerns to the Management Team and assists in determining quality guidelines
โ€ข Conducts weekly Production/Safety meetings with departmental personnel
โ€ข Communicates with necessary supervision to avoid problems between shift changes
โ€ข Operates forklift, as needed, in tight spaces with human traffic
โ€ข Other duties as assigned
โ€ข Full-time role in a manufacturing plant/warehouse setting
Skill Set:
โ€ข Proficient in lean methods
โ€ข Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
โ€ข Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
โ€ข Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization
โ€ข Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy; calculate figures and amounts, such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate
โ€ข Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
โ€ข Results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment
โ€ข Demonstrates aptitude for problem-solving and able to determine solutions for customers
โ€ข Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
โ€ข Assertive leader who holds self and others accountable
Qualifications Desired:
โ€ข 2 -5 years of experience as a production supervisor or manager
โ€ข Experience in the corrugated packaging industry highly preferred
โ€ข Working knowledge of all production machines, plant equipment and processes, including: equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation
โ€ข Certified forklift operator
โ€ข High school diploma / GED
