Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Major Responsibilities

Employee Training:

  • Point of contact for all training needs related to assigned manufacturing process area.
  • Work with TL to determine best fit when assigning new associate to an OJT.
  • Ensures training of various processes is conducted in a timely and efficient manner.
  • To include retraining as needed for any reason
  • Works with On Job Trainers to ensure consistent delivery of training.
  • Provide support and step in when needed to assist if training isn’t happening effectively/efficiently
  • Create and deliver training content using adult learning principles.
  • Provide classroom facilitation to associates (New and existing).
  • Assist with onboarding by providing guidance to new associates as needed.

Certifications:

  • Certification and recertification of manufacturing associates within their process area.
  • Work with OJT’s and TL’s to ensure that training is on track for certification in a timely manner.

Process and Documentation:

  • Serve as Document controller (ADC) for assigned area
  • Conducts process and procedure audits.
  • Creation and/or updating of user documentation as needed.
  • Update training tracker
  • Communicate Quality issues and help implement controls to resolve
  • Maintain manning list with certification info for use by DH/TL/PC when deciding on assignments
  • Manning List will be maintained in a centralized location that is accessible by all parties.

Other:

  • Build relationships with Associates and Leadership in your area. 
  • Execute other Training related responsibilities as necessary and required.
  • Fill role of operator to assist Engineering with experiments if available
  • Fill role of operator to assist Technology with development of new product if available
  • Attend Morning Market for assigned area
  • Meet with TL’s on regular basis for updates/adjustments on training/retraining
  • Bi-weekly training update meeting
  • Training Tracker report is maintained in a centralized location and is updated weekly

Additional Responsibilities that may be included:

  • OTIS Team
  • ERT Team 5S Audit team
  • Support Operations occasionally filling in to help if critical issues arise that impact business negatively
  • Requires approval of Workforce Development Leader
  • Cannot impact ability to keep up with “normal” responsibilities

Requirements:

  • 5 days per week presence
  • Night and day shift presence required (minimum 2 hours overlap with day/night shift)
  • Some flexibility can be allowed with prior approval.
  • Additional evening/night shift/weekend as needed for training activities

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Proven ability to effectively deliver training to various audiences both in classroom and within assigned area
  • Solid knowledge of HCP processes or must have at least 3 years of training experience.
  • Proven ability to work with other associates, Team Leaders and Staff to determine training gaps and develop potential solutions
  • Proficient in knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Must have or be able to build excellent rapport with HCP employees
  • Satisfactory disciplinary record history (Not currently on Written warning or higher)

The range for this position is ​$25.25 hourly rate - $29.63 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
