Job description

Are You Wired for Systems Thinking?

Do you spot waste before the metrics do? Can you turn a Process Flow Diagram into breakthrough plant performance? At Novolex—where packaging innovation meets sustainability across food, retail, health, and industrial markets—we’re looking for a builder of lean systems and a guardian of quality.

The Challenge

Lead continuous improvement and quality management with a dual mandate: unlock immediate productivity and embed long-term quality capability. You’ll design scalable processes, standard work, and documentation that make excellence repeatable.

What You’ll Tackle
  • Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of manufacturing while advancing multi-year quality plans.
  • Install quality procedures and governance across the production process.
  • Own technical readiness for proposals and execution, including:
    • PFDs with plant pressure profiles and mechanical design pressure/temperature
    • Heat and material balances
    • P&IDs and process data sheets for major equipment
    • Technical review of vendor offers and vendor print reviews
    • Verification of process data completeness
    • Relief valve and header sizing confirmation
    • Defining process heat exchanger requirements with vendors
    • Safety reviews to protect people and performance
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions; support quality reporting and responses to customer complaints (CIR’s).
  • Keep technical documentation organized and accessible.
  • Work with the Manager and GM of Production Equipment to ensure all RFQ elements are aligned prior to application activity.
  • Coordinate and expedite information flow between engineering and the Applications Engineer; track in-house proposal status.
  • Proactively prevent quality non-conformances across products, processes, and systems.
  • Produce CRM, Syteline, statistical, and ad hoc reports that inform decisions.
What Sets You Apart
  • BS in Engineering (Industrial preferred).
  • 3–5 years running quality in a lean manufacturing environment with rapid CI delivery.
  • Strength in standard work creation and quality systems documentation/management.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred; strong practitioner of Six Sigma methods.
  • Hands-on command of VSM, visual management, 5S, variation reduction kaizen, material pull, total production maintenance (TPM), and error proofing.
  • Expert-level SPC knowledge with supporting software experience.
  • A true “working manager” who partners with plant leadership and hourly teams.
  • Ability to “see the big picture” and act as a business partner.
  • Proficiency in: Continuous Improvement; 5 Why; Food & Beverage Manufacturing; Kaizen; Electrical/Electronic Systems; Lean Manufacturing Principles; Six Sigma; Root Cause Analysis; Process Development.
Life at Novolex

Our sustainability vision is anchored in products, operations, and people. Join a team that thinks long-term and moves fast.

Rewards & Growth
  • Benefits: Competitive medical, dental, vision (with Telehealth), plus programs supporting mental, physical, and financial well-being; offerings may vary by location.
  • Community Impact: We prioritize giving to organizations focused on sustainability and food/hunger relief and encourage facility-level community involvement.
  • Career Development: Advance via Novolex University—industry training, a Learning Management System, tuition reimbursement, and ongoing development pathways.
