Job description

Sharpe Engineering & Equipment is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support the design, development, and execution of sanitary process systems for the food & beverage industry. This hands-on technical expert will take projects from concept through design, equipment specification, installation, and commissioning—ensuring every solution meets Sharpe’s standards for quality, safety, and operational excellence.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with clients, internal engineering teams, contractors, and vendors. You will play a key role in shaping process solutions, delivering exceptional project results, and advancing Sharpe’s reputation as a trusted partner in food & beverage processing.

  • Key Responsibilities
    • Design and layout fluid process systems, including batching, processing, packaging, CIP/COP, pasteurization, filtration, and heat exchange technologies.
    • Develop PFDs, P&IDs, utility and equipment matrices, mass balances, SOPs, and SSOPs.
    • Size and specify process equipment, pumps, valves, instrumentation, and utility systems such as steam, glycol, condensate, cooling water, and city water.
    • Prepare performance specifications and RFQs, and coordinate with vendors throughout the equipment selection process.
    • Identify process improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives across client operations.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment across engineering, project management, installation, and start-up activities.
    • Provide field supervision or support during equipment installation, commissioning, and site visits.
    • Maintain strong communication with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy and exceptional service.

Requirements

  • What We’re Looking For
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Process, Chemical, or related).
    • 8–10+ years of relevant process engineering experience; supervisory experience preferred.
    • Strong understanding of 3A, USDA, and FDA sanitary design requirements.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD (including isometric drawings), Microsoft Office, and process engineering tools.
    • Experience executing process design from concept through installation and commissioning.
    • Ability to travel to client sites (30–50%) for meetings, design reviews, installation support, and start-ups.
    • A detail-oriented, collaborative engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
