Job description

We are seeking a Process Engineer to support innovation, continuous improvement, and manufacturing excellence in our Color Room. In this role, you will develop and optimize processes, lead improvement and capital projects, troubleshoot complex production challenges, and collaborate across functions to deliver safe, efficient, high-quality results for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement new manufacturing processes using leading-edge technology to support innovation and product development initiatives.
  • Translate customer needs into practical product and process solutions that support performance, manufacturability, and quality.
  • Identify and lead projects that reduce manufacturing costs, improve process capability, and enhance product quality.
  • Manage process improvement and capital projects from concept through implementation.
  • Participate in Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
  • Incorporate safety expectations and accountability into process improvements that support a safer work environment.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and manufacturing support for new products and processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex manufacturing issues using a methodical, data-driven approach.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement product and process improvement opportunities.
  • Recommend and implement enhancements to existing product lines and equipment.
  • Maximize process efficiency and yield while maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Interface with customers to resolve complaints and deliver value-added solutions.
  • Partner with product development teams to support the transition from development to full-scale production.
  • Lead or coordinate cross-functional teams to improve products, processes, and systems.
  • Coordinate and train production personnel on new trials, products, processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with production management and plant personnel to support a safe, high-performing production environment.
  • Contribute to long-term plant and facilities planning initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Paper Science, or a related field; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 3-5 years of process engineering experience preferred; candidates with less experience may also be considered.
  • Strong understanding of chemistry, materials, and coatings.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering and scientific principles to solve problems and drive measurable improvements.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers, leadership, and production personnel.
  • Business acumen in cost-benefit analysis, project management, and both strategic and tactical planning.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Effective presentation and reporting skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing technical or capital projects, including budgeting, planning, and execution.
