What is the role of a process associate?

A process development associate is responsible for designing, testing, and optimizing manufacturing or operational processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety. They often analyze data, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and use tools like process mapping and statistical analysis to implement improvements.

What is the difference between Process Development Associate vs Process Engineer?

AspectProcess Development AssociateProcess Engineer
Required CredentialsBachelor's in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field; often some experience in process developmentBachelor's or Master's in Chemical Engineering or related; more emphasis on engineering principles
Work EnvironmentLaboratory and pilot plant settings, focused on process research and developmentManufacturing plants, production lines, and process optimization environments
Employer & Industry UsagePharmaceutical, biotech, and chemical industries; entry to mid-level rolesChemical, manufacturing, and process industries; more senior roles in process optimization

The Process Development Associate primarily focuses on developing and optimizing new processes in lab and pilot settings, often working closely with R&D teams. In contrast, the Process Engineer applies engineering principles to scale up processes, improve manufacturing efficiency, and troubleshoot production issues. While both roles require a background in chemical or process engineering, the Process Development Associate is more research-oriented, whereas the Process Engineer emphasizes process implementation and optimization in production environments.

What jobs in the US pay 300,000 a year?

In the US, high-paying roles such as senior-level physicians, specialized surgeons, corporate executives, investment bankers, and certain technology executives can earn $300,000 or more annually. Process Technician, R&D -- Polymer Technology Group

G-3 Chickadee Purchaser LLC

Akron, OH • On-site

Re-posted 3 days ago

Job description

WHO IS G-3 CHICKADEE

Formerly part of Goodyear Chemical, G-3 Chickadee is now an independent, private equity-backed specialty materials company in the early stages of building its own operational identity. We're modernizing our infrastructure—SAP, MES, cybersecurity—and investing heavily in new product development. Local candidates preferred due to proximity to the worksite and interview/ onboarding logistics. Relocation is not available.

Our Polymer Technology Group runs in-house research labs and small-scale polymerization units focused on polymers and polymer manufacturing. The work here directly shapes what becomes our next generation of products and processes.

THE ROLE

You'll work side-by-side with chemists, engineers, and fellow operating technicians in our small-scale polymerization facility, operating process equipment, testing materials, and helping implement lab-scale discoveries into real manufacturing improvements. This is hands-on, technically challenging work with direct impact on both new product development and existing process optimization.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Operate batch and continuous polymerization and finishing units at small-scale pilot plant level
  • Utilize analytical instruments including Mooney viscometer, GC, and DSC
  • Prepare polymer and material samples to specification for internal and customer evaluations
  • Record process conditions, observations, and test results accurately; compile data for research teams
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and clean process equipment to keep operations running smoothly
  • Communicate clearly with fellow technicians, engineers, and internal customers
  • Follow all safety and environmental protocols without exception

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

REQUIRED

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to work off-shift two weeks per month
  • Mechanical, technical and/or chemical aptitude; interest in figuring out how equipment works
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping habits
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small, fast-moving team

PREFERRED

  • Associate degree in a technical or scientific field
  • Experience in a production facility (i.e. small- scale reactor facility) / physical or chemical laboratory
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Prior work in an industrial or manufacturing environment

WHY THIS ROLE & WHY NOW

  • Join at a genuinely formative moment—G-3 Chickadee is building its technology foundation from scratch as a new independent company
  • Work on a real R&D team, your work feeds directly into product and process development decisions
  • Grow alongside the company; as we scale, so do the opportunities for people who helped build things early
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package
  • Benefits include Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement Benefits, Tuition Assistance, and Vision Insurance

Ready to do meaningful work at a company that's genuinely building something new? If your answer is yes, then click Apply now.
