Printing and Converting Supervisor

Hood Packaging is currently recruiting for a Printing and Converting Supervisor for our Tyler, TX location who will be responsible for all aspects of the Printing, Pre-Press, and Converting Departments' operations, including personnel, machinery, schedule fulfillment, productivity, waste management, safety, environmental conditions, and housekeeping.
Functional Responsibilities

  • Assist operators with problem solving techniques and application of sound operating practices
  • Coordinates with the maintenance department for repairs, PM's or project work associated within both departments
  • Motivate employees to meet or exceed production goals
  • Ensure that changeovers are made at or below established changeover targets
  • Train all employees to ensure production efficiencies and following standard operating procedures
  • Responsible for vacation approvals, overtime posting, any leave of absences (all LOA must be coordinated with the HR department)
  • Motivate, counsel, and coach employees as needed
  • Actively promote safety and ensure all employees are knowledgeable and adhere to all safety policies and procedures
  • Assist in any accident investigations and provide documentation as required by Company policy
  • Hold monthly safety meetings within the department
Managerial Responsibilities
  • Direct and supervise shift operators
  • Review Company policies with departmental employees
  • Input into hiring, disciplining, and terminating employees
  • Address any disciplinary issue in accordance with the current Labor Agreement
Qualifications • Minimum of H.S. Diploma, Technical or Engineering degree preferred\ • 3 years in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a similar industry • 2 years of supervisory experience Skills • Working knowledge of flexographic printing processes preferred • Mechanical aptitude with an emphasis on light industrial equipment • Detail oriented with good organizational and managerial skills • Good communication skills both written and verbal • Good interpersonal skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Hood Packaging Corporation is an equal opportunity employer and considers applications for all positions without regard to race, gender, religion, national origin, age, marital or veteran status, the presence of a non-job-related medical condition or handicap or any other legally protected status.
