Overview
We are seeking a Principal Solution Architect with strong experience in the healthcare payer industry, specifically in areas such as member services, customer service, claims, enrollment, and benefits. This role focuses on high-level solution architecture, domain modeling, strategy alignment, and cross functional collaboration.
While AI exposure is helpful, deep hand on AI/ML architectural experience is not required. The ideal candidate is someone who can think strategically, communicate complex concepts simply, and design solutions that align with enterprise roadmaps and regulatory expectations.
Candidates must be able to deliver high level use cases, demonstrating how they would design an architectural approach for a business scenario - explaining conceptual data flows ("move data from here to here and why") and high level integration choices.
Responsibilities
  • Translate healthcare payer business needs into clear, high level architectural solutions that meet performance, reliability, and security expectations.
  • Drive enterprise optimization by implementing domain-specific capabilities utilizing in-depth knowledge and expert skills to advance strategies.
  • Translate business needs into architectural solutions that meet performance, reliability, and security expectations.
  • Develop and maintain architecture viewpoints and models depicting current, target, and interim states, using advanced modeling techniques.
  • Identify pain points and opportunities through analysis of current state viewpoints and lead efforts to address them.
  • Create architecture patterns ensuring alignment with IT strategies and reference architectures.
  • Ensure target state alignment and integration across architecture domains, maintaining traceability to business needs and solution components.
  • Lead the extension and enhancement of domain architecture strategies, standards, and guidelines, supporting the development of reusable patterns.
  • Oversee design, engineering, and implementation of assets to improve solution quality, collaborating during implementation phases.
  • Represent the architecture domain in reviews and briefings, maintain architecture repositories, and address stakeholder feedback.
  • Ensure solutions address regulatory and compliance issues effectively.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to understand needs and maximize architecture impact.
  • Lead evaluation and selection of solutions/products in line with strategies and standards.
  • Research emerging domain trends for relevancy and potential organizational impact.
  • Manage vendor evaluations, participate in RFIs/RFPs, and score vendor proposals.
  • Develop and improve domain-specific methods and tools, ensuring alignment with other architecture domains and SDLC processes.
  • Develop stakeholder communications, educational materials, and support architecture assessments for complex initiatives.
  • Provide input to technology roadmaps and report on progress, issues, and opportunities within the domain.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. In lieu of degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in Architecture Domain.
  • Must have healthcare payer experience, specifically in one or more of the following:

Member / customer service, Claims, Enrollment, Benefits.
  • Ability to deliver high level design use cases demonstrating clear conceptual architecture, simple, logical explanation of data movement, rationale behind integration choices, and distinction between solution architecture vs. deep technical implementation
  • Solid understanding of Gen AI/ ML concepts is helpful, deep AI/ML architecture not required
  • Preferred: Advanced degree.
  • Ability to motivate and influence others to meet objectives, demonstrating expert-level skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders and develop high-quality solutions at an expert level.
  • Experience coaching, delegating, and developing architects and engineers.
  • Expertise in managing cross-domain architecture solutions and resolving related issues.
  • Deep knowledge of domain-related architecture frameworks, methods, and tools.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills at an expert level.
  • Certified System Architect preferred upon hire.
