Position Summary
The Senior Solutions Architect oversees the design, governance, and delivery of enterprise-wide technology solutions across academic, clinical, research, and administrative domains at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM). This role ensures that MSM's technology infrastructure is secure, scalable, and compliant while advancing the institution's mission in education, research, and health equity. Working closely with IT leadership, faculty, staff, and external partners, the Senior Solutions Architect translates business needs into actionable technical strategies and provides expert guidance on architecture standards, systems integration, and innovation initiatives.
This role is based on the campus of Morehouse School of Medicine, in Atlanta, GA, and will report to the Director of Decision Support Systems and Data Analytics
These roles may be filled at the senior or junior level contingent upon the credentials and skills of the candidate.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
- 5+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least 2+ years in a Solutions Architecture role.
- Demonstrated experience implementing enterprise-scale solutions and integrations.
- Hands-on experience with higher education and/or healthcare systems such as Ellucian Banner, Workday, Salesforce, or EHR/EMR platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, or TOGAF.
- Experience designing data lakehouse architectures in Microsoft Fabric or equivalent platforms.
- Knowledge of research data management, grant systems, or clinical data workflows.
- Experience integrating ServiceNow, SharePoint, or workflow automation tools into enterprise environments.
- A master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university is preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:
Enterprise Architecture & Solution Design
- Lead the design and implementation of enterprise solutions across MSM's academic, clinical, research, and administrative domains.
- Develop and maintain solution blueprints for core platforms, including Ellucian Banner, Workday, ServiceNow, Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL, and Microsoft Purview.
- Define and enforce medallion architecture (bronze, silver, gold layers) for MSM's data lakehouse, ensuring proper ingestion, transformation, and consumption.
- Establish secure and scalable integration patterns and data flows between ERP, HRIS, finance, research, and development systems.
Data Governance, Compliance & Security
- Ensure solutions comply with FERPA, HIPAA, and other regulatory frameworks governing higher education and healthcare data.
- Collaborate with the Data Governance Council to align solution architecture with role-based access controls (RBAC) and row-level security (RLS) in Power BI.
- Drive adoption of metadata management and data lineage practices within Microsoft Purview.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to academic, research, and administrative leaders by translating requirements into technology roadmaps.
- Partner with IT, Data Analytics, and Research Computing teams to align on shared infrastructure and data strategies.
- Mentor engineers, analysts, and junior architects, building capacity and ensuring best practices in solution design and delivery.
Innovation & Strategic Growth
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies in AI/ML, cloud, and analytics to support decision-making and MSM's long-term data strategy.
- Design frameworks for AI-ready data platforms, enabling responsible adoption of predictive analytics and LLM-based solutions.
- Support MSM's digital transformation initiatives, including SharePoint modernization, Service Hub integration, and cloud migration strategies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership, organizational, and collaboration skills with the ability to engage cross-functional teams.
- Proven expertise in cloud platforms (Azure preferred), enterprise system integration, and scalable solution design.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL, Power BI, data modeling, and modern data lakehouse technologies.
- Understanding of compliance, governance, and security frameworks for healthcare and higher education.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
