Job description

Geode Capital Management, LLC is seeking a Director, Solution Architect to lead the design, modernization, and evolution of the firm's technology platforms. Reporting to the Head of Architecture, this role will partner closely with product owners, engineering teams, the CTO, and technology leadership to deliver scalable solutions that address business needs and drive successful outcomes across the organization.
This role is based in our office in Boston, Massachusetts. You are required to follow the firm's policy on in-office attendance. Our current policy requires in-office attendance on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and then provides an option to work remotely on Monday and Friday. Please note that Geode may alter this policy at any time.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with product owners, engineering leaders, and business stakeholders to define and evolve the architecture strategy for data platforms, APIs, cloud solutions, and AI, ML, and LLM capabilities.
  • Lead the end-to-end architecture and design of cloud native, SaaS solutions and vendor products, ensuring scalability, security, resilience, and maintainability.
  • Establish and govern architecture standards, principles, patterns, and best practices to enable consistent, reusable, and high-quality solutions across the enterprise.
  • Define architectural standards, principles and the governance framework and processes to manage stakeholder decisions and safeguard the integrity of the solution architecture.
  • Enforce and maintain compliance with Enterprise Architecture, Technology - Security and Resiliency Standards and Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Planning and best practices.
  • Provide technical oversight, leading solution architecture related tasks such as peer and quality reviews of specifications, design documents and code reviews.
  • Execute knowledge management, thought leadership and innovation activities; act as an advisor and mentor to architectural and technical resources providing guidance and motivation.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert for development teams, helping solve complex technical challenges and guiding implementation decisions.
  • Promote the secure software development lifecycle best practices among peers and other technical staff.
  • Mentor and develop architects and engineers, promoting technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with technical governance on security, risk management, compliance, data governance related activities.
  • Maintain and evolve the technology architecture portfolio, identifying opportunities for modernization, optimization, and improved business outcomes.

Skills You Bring:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering enterprise technology solutions across multiple platforms, frameworks, and technologies.
  • Proven ability to lead solution architecture from strategy through implementation, including architecture ownership, design artifacts, and stakeholder communication.
  • Experience designing and implementing secure, scalable cloud-native custom solutions, including modernization and migration initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise architecture, including security, data architecture, scalability, and resiliency.
  • Contribute to the development of AI/ML strategies and roadmaps.
  • Engage with multiple squads to deliver architecture artifacts, drive issue resolution, wellness plans, and product roadmaps.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud architecture patterns, DevSecOps, authoring CI/CD automation, and Well-Architected Framework implementation principles.
  • Ability to assess business priorities, evaluate technical risks and tradeoffs, and translate business needs into strategic technology solutions.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with product owners, architects, and technical leads for individual products and applications.
  • Demonstrated strong software development experience in Databases, data platforms, Data API, in public cloud environments.
  • Passion for technology, not limiting yourself to a set of languages or frameworks.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and build strong partnerships across product, engineering, architecture, and leadership teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills. .
  • Experience in cloud technologies and practices, building and deploying applications using either AWS or Azure or both. Cloud certification preferred.
  • Strong Domain knowledge within financial industry preferred.
