Job description

The Operating Technician is primarily a 12-hour rotating shift job operating the Marietta polystyrene plant.  Job requires knowledge and use of computer operating (DCS) system, knowledge and use of a workstation, use of the computerized maintenance work order system, and the ability to safely and responsibly operate the plant using standard operating procedures and work processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Performing routine operation of basic control systems and devices to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures and flow rates and transfer of products.
  • Using troubleshooting skills to resolve process, product quality, safety, and environmental problems.
  • Following operating discipline, procedures and practices to ensure a safe and efficient operation of assigned duties.
  • The control, monitoring and adjustment of all control systems and manually operated equipment.
  • Identification of equipment requiring maintenance.
  • Clearing and tagging equipment as required, and issuing Safe Work Permits for maintenance and project work.
  • Acting as a resource for other Operators and/or Technicians on job tasks and prioritization of work activities.
  • Communicating with transportation providers on issues related to carriers and equipment.
  • Performing tasks assigned per task list.
  • Accurately completing all required paperwork.
  • Performing all duties with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Experience in a chemical/manufacturing plant operation is a plus, but not required.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
  • High degree of safety awareness and willingness to follow all safety standards.
Job Requirements:
  • High school diploma is required.
  • Must be able to operate forklifts and track mobile.
Desired:
  • Two years relevant post high school experience or equivalent training is desired.
  • Also preferred - Two-year degree or some college with training in process operations such as pumps, heat exchangers, valves, distillation, and chemical reactions.

  • This position is part of the Marietta manufacturing organization and is located at the Marietta polystyrene plant in Marietta, Ohio.
  • Relocation assistance is not authorized for this position.
  • The work schedule for this position is a rotating 12-hour shift working nights, weekends and holidays.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to work some overtime.
Relocation is not available with this position.
