Job Description

The full-time 9-month tenure track faculty position will be responsible for teaching Political Science courses as needed and in the faculty member's area of specialty beginning August of 2026. Political Science is housed in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education which is the largest college at TAMUT. TAMUT is experiencing record setting enrollment growth, with a 17% increase in enrollments since Spring, 2025.

Duties include teaching a 3/3 course load, active scholarship agenda, and service to the University and local community.

Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required at the time of hire. No pre-employment sponsorship is authorized for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach and develop Political Science courses.
  • Teach other Political Science classes as needed, including the two introductory government core courses.
  • Advise students.
  • Perform professional scholarly activities such as conference presentations and publications.
  • Participate in institutional and professional service.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate/PhD in Political Science from an accredited institution. ABD will be considered at the rank of Lecturer if doctoral/terminal degree is not conferred by the hire date.
  • Evidence of teaching in an accredited university setting.
  • Ability to effectively teach 8-week online & in person Political Science courses.
  • Ability to advise students and student clubs.
  • Experience producing scholarship related to Political Science.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to engage in service, such as collaboration with faculty members and participation in program, division, college, university, and professional activities.
  • Experience in instructional design and course development, including online teaching and active learning strategies.
