Job Title: Collection Services Associate (28 hrs./Non-Exempt/Part-time)
Location: Operations Center - Gahanna
Starting Pay Range: $17.51-$21.53 hourly (commensurate with experience)

About the Position:

Unpacks shipments of library materials, checks-in, processes and distributes materials for access and shelving at assigned library locations.

Position Schedule

  • Monday-Wednesday - 7:30am-11:30am
  • Thursday/Friday - 7:30am-4pm

What You'll Do

  1. Unpacks, sorts, and receives daily vendor shipments. Verifies items received against order information and invoice. Identifies replacements or titles needing special handling and notes on work slip if necessary.
  2. Prepares invoices for payment.
  3. Utilizes the Polaris Integrated Library System (ILS) to efficiently and effectively process library materials.
  4. Creates and applies labels (location, barcode, security, new, reference, genre, author) to new books, serials and AV materials.
  5. Links books, serials, and AV materials to the ILS record.
  6. Distributes materials leaving department.
  7. Jackets items as needed.
  8. Mends library materials as determined by professional staff.
  9. Checks-in new serial items, updates summary holdings and deletes issues as needed.
  10. Troubleshoots equipment and software as needed. Makes necessary fixes or adjustments. Consults with Information Technology when necessary.
  11. Performs additional duties as assigned including serving on task forces, committees, data entry of statistics, filing, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  1. High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
  2. Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (i.e. Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job-related equipment and systems.
  3. Required to complete motorized pallet jack training and obtain certification within the first

    year of employment.

  4. Ability to utilize reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment and other locations, per job requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles (e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, and/or working in moderate outdoor weather conditions).

Work requires occasional lifting or pushing of up to 100 lbs. and the frequent lifting or pushing of up to 50 lbs.
