Job Title: Plating Operator
Reports to: Coating Manager
Location: San Marcos, Texas
We have one goal: to manufacture quality magnets! We are looking for exceptional individuals who want to learn, build, and lay a foundation for our company for the years to come.
About this role
Noveon Magnetics is looking for someone who has experience in surface finishing for direct manufacturing and commercialization. Basic understanding or willingness to learn about electroplating metals and metallic alloys in aqueous solutions, pre-treatment, cleaning, pickling, Zn, phosphate, Ni/Cu, epoxy etc., and diagnosis and failure analysis of coatings.
This person will assist in electroplating and corrosion-resistance processes on pilot and production lines. These processes will be instrumental in properly applying corrosion-resistant coatings to Noveon products.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Assisting the plating engineer/technician in daily operations, as well as related tests to ensure we produce high quality coating and plating on magnet products.
  • Assisting in reporting maintenance issues to the manager/technician in detail for work orders to be submitted, as well as recording and reporting of data daily
  • Performing visual inspections of coated parts, sending them to QC to check plating thickness, and product quality.
  • Assisting the engineer or technician with maintaining proper plating bath balance including taking pH and conductivity reading daily
  • Performing and maintaining regular housekeeping by following current 5S model
  • Managing storage of materials, supplies, reports, corrosion tests, data, and data analysis.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Has 0-2 years' experience and basic understanding of pretreatment and wet processes for coating and plating.
  • Knows how to use overhead hoists, fork trucks, hand tools, and rectifiers.
  • Possesses knowledge of safe methods of handling materials and chemicals always using the proper PPE.
  • Is comfortable with measurement equipment such as thermometers, pH meters, and measuring scopes/microscopes.
  • Preferably has experience with wet processes for coating/plating Zn, phosphate, Ni/Cu and epoxy.

Additionally:
  • Must be willing to learn and conduct chemical titrations on the plating baths without supervision and as instructed by the engineer(manager).
  • Can follow written, verbal instructions, and work independently with minimum supervision from managers and/or peers.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening, medical physical and, if applicable, visual testing.
  • Able to move up to 50lbs.
  • Possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
  • Can wear PPE such as N-95 masks, half face respirators, face shields, aprons, and FR coveralls.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and must be willing to work extended shifts as needed or when necessary.
  • Is capable of making repetitive movements including, but not limited to, sitting, squatting and walking up and down stairs.
