Job description

Overview
Telephone Operator
Willamette Valley Cancer Institute is seeking a Telephone Operator to join their administrative team at the Central Business Office in Eugene, OR. This role involves answering, directing, and triaging incoming calls to our clinic, so strong communication skills and experience with complex multi-line phone systems are essential. Ideal candidates will be highly organized and able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. While experience in a medical office is preferred, it is not required.
The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $19.00-$27.18. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, internal equity, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Answers all incoming calls courteously and efficiently, connecting callers to the appropriate extension.
  • Accurately takes and relays messages in a timely manner.
  • Responds promptly to emergency and urgent calls from patients, directing them to clinical staff as needed.
  • Handles operator functions, including triaging calls, transferring calls, setting up conference calls, instructing users on phone procedures, and reporting any telephone or equipment issues.
  • Offers a friendly and helpful phone experience for all callers.
  • Assists with clerical tasks as assigned to support departmental workflow.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least one (1) year of office experience, preferably in a medical/clinical setting
