Description:
The role involves providing care for postpartum, stable antepartum, newborns, GYN, Med-Surg overflow, and may also include acting as the second RN in the Special Care Nursery.
Candidates should be willing to float as needed, primarily assisting and providing care to patients in other units when required.
Responsibilities include caring for both the mother and baby, with an average census of 5 couplets, 2 pediatrics, 1 GYN, 2 labor patients, and 4 in the Special Care Nursery.
The support staff on the unit includes a ward clerk, CNAs, charge nurses, resource nurses, and LPN scrub nurses.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is generally 1:3 for mom/baby couplets, 1:5 for GYN/Med-Surge patients, and 1:3-4 for pediatrics.
Equipment utilized in this position includes EPIC One Chart, Omnicell, Philips Vitals Machines, Bladder Scanner, Medula Breast Pumps, Responder 5 Call Light System, and Medfusion Pumps.
Candidates must be prepared to assist in filling scheduling vacancies as needed and must be willing to float to Med-Surg and Tele units.
