Job Summary
Responsible for managing and directing the development and implementation of the informatics applications, tools, medication orderable, and decision support to enhance the safe and effective medication use process. Ensures consistency with organizational philosophy and goals, compliance with applicable administrative, clinical, and regulatory requirements. Partners with Pharmacy Management, DS, clinical analysts and DS pharmacists, Nursing Informatics, Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO), and System Pharmacy leaders in support of medication cycle and pharmacy systems development and implementation.
Essential Functions
-
Serves as the pharmacy informatics expert resource and partners with the Pharmacy department and other clinical and non-clinical departments . Networks within the System and the external Pharmacy profession to maintain clinical informatics expertise.

Participates in the medication and protocol approval process and designs and builds tools such as order sets, treatment plans, and therapy plans to ensure safe, effective and efficient evidence-based use of medications and other therapies.

Designs, organizes and implements effective and actionable medication rules and alerts for physicians and pharmacists.

Assesses areas where technology enhancements would promote more effective and efficient patient care services and develops appropriate solutions. Advises clinical operations on strategic direction for technology applications.

Designs, implements and monitors the drug library for smart infusion pumps. Collaborates with system Pharmacy leadership to ensure safe practices are maintained related to infusion pumps.

Supports process improvement teams as the pharmacy informatics expert related to medication use. Leads the pharmacy clinical informatics and works closely with nursing and prescriber clinical informatics teams involving key stake holders in decision making.

Plays active role in informatics policy and procedure development; software customization; upgrade planning, implementation, and testing; database management and mining.

Provides and supports education and training related to new technology or technology changes.
Qualifications
Required

Required Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy

2 years of relevant hospital pharmacy experience or an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Pharmacy Practice Residency
-
Pharmacist License from the State of Michigan
-
Pharmacist Controlled Substance License from the State of Michigan
Preferred

Experience working in an inpatient environment

Experience working in an oncology setting

Experience within institutional care, clinical pharmacy services and pharmacy systems management

Experience designing, configuring, and implementing vendor software
