Job description

Overview

CentraState Medical Center is currently seeking a Informatics Nurse Specialist to support Perioperative Administrative Services. This role aligns nursing care with improved quality outcomes through the use of technology.

Responsibilities
  • Acts in the role of an informatics resource during the preparation and subsequent phases of implementing new Clinical Information Systems.
  • Assesses workflow related processes/requirements to facilitate system enhancements and modifications.
  • Recommends, implements, and supports approved system optimizations.
  • Collaborates with management and clinicians in designing, implementing and maintaining clinical systems.
  • Assists in the development of design specifications in support of new or modified clinical applications, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Documents current processes to establish a baseline for developmental improvements of future workflows.
  • Analyzes, recommends and assists with implementing new and improved processes and workflows.
  • Acts as a liaison and represents CentraState Medical Center users/customers in all project initiatives. Performs post-implementation monitoring of adoption and use.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary and process improvement teams to identify potential uses of the information systems and potential optimization of current use of systems.
  • Supports the integration and use of evidence-based methods, tools, and guidelines linked to effective outcomes.
  • Supports and provides data analytics, including quality of care measures and social determinants of health, to improve health outcomes and global health. Supports clinical staff as change agent in the real time application of information and evidence-based techniques to change healthcare delivery and affect patient outcomes.
  • Acts as a liaison to clinically related committees (TBD) and staff to coordinate and communicate projects and outcomes measurement.
  • Appraises computer and information technologies for their applicability to care delivery.
  • Projects leadership and implementation with responsibility for policy and procedure development.
  • Makes rounds to units/departments regularly to assess informatics needs and articulates informatics requirements to other disciplines.
  • Informs staff of informatics updates.
  • Solicits feedback and evaluation from managers and staff on the effectiveness of an informatics solution.
  • Interprets communication to and from others, such as informatics professionals, clinicians, patients, supervisor and vendors.
  • Participates in design, data collection and analysis of surveys, pilot projects, and formal studies.
  • Presents the story of data analysis findings to stakeholders.
  • Performs related duties, as required.
Qualifications
  • Nursing degree required. 
  • Master's degree required, Informatics major preferred. 
  • Minimum of three (3) years directly related clinical experience, healthcare informatics or healthcare operations, including leadership, and/or education required.
  • Current NJ RN or APN License required.
  • Advanced certifications in Information Systems or Informatics required or must be obtained within one year of employment.
  • A strong customer service focus with the ability to develop effective working relationships required.
  • Current knowledge of clinical practices and related information systems and computer applications required.
  • Current knowledge of trends and advances in clinical practice and healthcare informatics, as well as new developments and innovations in hardware and software technology.
  • Demonstrated initiative, problem identification, resolution and analytical skills are essential, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience gathering requirements and working with data, quality improvement processes and implementation of evidence-based practice in an acute environment.
  • Demonstrated fluency in informatics terminology and approved nursing vocabularies.
  • Experience in project leadership and implementation.

Compensation Range: $101,400.00 - $172,380.00 annually

 

The compensation above reflects the established range from CentraState Healthcare System (CSHS) for this position at the time the job was posted. CSHS considers many factors to determine compensation, including education, experience, skills, licenses, certification, and training.  As such, team member compensation may fall outside this range. 

Additionally, the compensation range reflects base salary and does not include extra shift rates or incentives tied to quality, productivity, etc., as applicable.

The benefits outlined also reflect CSHS' policy at the time of posting.  Benefits as are made available to other similarly situated team members of CSHS, although participation is at all times in accordance with and subject to the eligibility and other provisions of such plans and programs.
