Job Summary:

The Payroll Analyst supports the full payroll lifecycle, including timekeeping review, payroll processing, employee and project inquiries, reporting, compliance, reconciliations, and post-payroll accounting. The position has responsibility for the general ledger components of payroll and benefits, including journal entries, account reconciliations, labor distributions, and cost allocations across multiple cost centers and funding sources. The Payroll Analyst works closely with the Senior Payroll Manager to ensure payroll is processed timely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable requirements, including the accurate transfer of payroll information from Paylocity into NetSuite. This position also collaborates with the Grants & Fund Administration and Compliance team to ensure labor costs are properly allocated and supported.


Responsibilities:

Processing 800+ electronic timecards and related payroll documentation on a bi-weekly basis in ensuring accuracy and compliance

Assist with cost allocation plans and labor distribution as well as training on compliance

Maintain documents and record-keeping in accordance with organization policies and procedures

Provide responsive and professional customer service to projects and employees, addressing payroll and timekeeping inquiries, discrepancies, and procedural questions

Audit and review timesheets for accuracy regarding meal breaks, overtime rules etc.

Assist with processing payroll checks, terminations and payroll reports for projects

Assist with garnishments, wage statements and inquiries from regulatory government agencies

Ensure compliance with multi-state payroll tax laws and regulations

Importing payroll data from Paylocity to Netsuite (NS) and reconciliation to NS general ledger as well as resolution of reconciling items

Verify payroll register against bank statements and resolve outstanding discrepancies

Provision of workers' compensation, vacation accruals payroll reports

Preparation of GTL/LTD templates for calculating monthly accounting entries

Maintenance of employee ID records between Paylocity and NS.

Perform other duties and projects as may be necessary or as assigned

Requirements

Experience and Qualifications:

A minimum of 4 years of experience in an accounting role, including payroll and the month end close process

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent experience

Payroll and Payroll GL experience (Paylocity experience is a plus)

Experience working with multiple cost centers and project codes

Ability to work accurately and independently

Experience working with accounting software programs (ERP/NetSuite experience is a plus)

Proficiency in MS Office programs. Advanced excel and analysis skills with an eye for detail

Excellent client service, communication, interpersonal skills and professional demeanor in communicating with staff, partners and vendors

Data analysis skills and the ability to problem solve with minimal directions


Working Conditions:

The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, frequently required to walk and stand. The employee must also use his/her hands to operate and feel office equipment and reach with hands and arms. Employee may occasionally climb, stoop, kneel or bend.
