Job description

PFS Representative

Position Summary:  As a member of our Patient Financial Services team, you will be responsible for using an electronic billing system to resolve billing issues and produce timely and clean claims. 

Utilize worklists and reports to manage and investigate aging accounts, follow up on denied claims and resolve credit balances. 

Essential Functions:

  • Use the electronic billing system to manage assigned worklists in expected timeframes.
  • Resolve errors that prevent claims from generating.
  • Research denied/unpaid claims and file appeals/corrected claims.
  • Review account balances for write-offs and refunds.
  • Communicate both within the PFS team and outside departments to resolve errors.
  • Communicate with insurance companies in writing, on the telephone and using electronic provider portals.
  • Update accounts with correct information and enter written comments to document findings and next steps.

Required Minimum Education: 

  • High School Diploma required. 
  • Hospital billing experience preferred.
