JOB SUMMARY:
The Pathway Coordinator, Trades and Technical Studies is a full-time, benefited position responsible for relationship building and academic success initiatives for the Trades and Technical Studies Pathway. This position plays a pivotal role in enhancing student success, community outreach, and the maintenance of internal and external partnerships as they pertain to the Pathway. The Coordinator collaborates with faculty, staff, and community partners to promote student engagement and success, and support diverse learners in achieving their academic and career aspirations. Through the establishment of a community of interest which unites all students and associated Pathway personnel around common interests and pursuits, the Coordinator creates structure to the Pathway student experience and ensures critical relationships are established and nurtured and impactful experiences are accessible to all students. The Coordinator instructs courses as assigned, with priority instruction for the STRT (Strategies for Success) and TREX (Transition Experience) courses and assumes supervisory responsibilities of adjunct faculty in these courses as demand requires.
Key responsibilities for the Coordinator include implementing effective student support initiatives, and overall coordination of the Pathway as a community of interest. The Pathway Coordinator collaborates with the Program Director(s), K-12 and industry partners, and internal personnel to foster relationships that enhance educational pathways and create post-graduation employment and/or transfer opportunities for students. The Pathway Coordinator will actively participate in mentoring and academic support initiatives and lead the Pathway in on and off campus building of a community with students. The Pathway Coordinator contributes to the continuous improvement of the department by collaborating with colleagues on program assessment, student success strategies, grant-funded opportunities, and other institutional initiatives.
The Pathway Coordinator role also involves institutional service, including participation on committees, involvement in accreditation processes, and collaboration on departmental projects.

Pathway Community Building: Ensures all students in the Pathway have opportunity to develop meaningful connections with peers, faculty and staff, employers, or others who share their interests; coordinates event planning, programming, and curricular opportunities in support of this community of interest.
a. Cultivates community engagement and partnerships by establishing collaborative initiatives that align with the broader community needs and enhances the College and Pathway's role in the region.
b. Build relationships with students by creating opportunities and activities that develop behaviors which positively influence retention of students in the Pathway.
c. Works in close collaboration with Academic Affairs and Student Services to ensure schedules, activities, and opportunities are responsive to student and community partners' needs.
d. Work collaboratively with the Enrollment Services and Marketing & Communications teams to assist in Pathway recruitment and build relationships with prospective students.
Pathway Development and Student Support: Ensures a cohesive and productive academic environment by collaborating with those in the Pathway and across the College as well as external stakeholders to develop a culture of innovation and continuous improvement through sustained partnerships.
a. Engages in annual program analysis and strategic planning with the Program Directors and Dean.
b. Collaborates with peers in the analysis of student performance data, identify patterns in student success and failure, and uses results to inform curriculum adjustments and enhance educational effectiveness across programs.
c. Coordinates and promotes collaborative and interdisciplinary initiatives that leverage the strengths of many in support of Pathway student success and institutional growth.
d. Advocate effectively for the needs of the Pathway while being able to support broader institutional interests when appropriate.
Curriculum and Instruction: A primary responsibility of the Coordinator is instruction. At LCCC we seek instructors who are committed to excellence in teaching as demonstrated in the competency domains outlined below. The Pathway Coordinator is expected to continually grow towards excellence in the following outcomes as they instruct the Strategies for Success and Transition Experience courses. These functional and behavioral responsibilities include teaching a maximum of 12 of the contracted annual workload hours as detailed below:
a. Teaching and Learning: Employs student-centered instruction coupled with the development and use of appropriate and current educational materials. Consistently and promptly responds to student inquiries and shares timely, appropriate, and instructive feedback and evaluation of student work.
  • Maximizes student engagement and success by employing methods that develop student understanding of the values, practice, and procedures within the designated discipline, and by engaging students in interdisciplinary practices to develop 21st century learners.
  • Prepares and delivers assigned courses by employing high-impact teaching practices in a learning environment that promotes respect and rapport.
  • Facilitates student achievement by maintaining clear expectations and defined learning outcomes.
  • Promotes learning through the innovative implementation of effective classroom technologies.
b. Competency-Based Design: Applies competency-based design to the development of curriculum, engaging with colleagues at the course, program, and institutional level with the aim of continuous improvement.
  • Evaluates student engagement and success through formative and summative assessment.
  • Develops curriculum by articulating measurable, student-centered learning outcomes, and using competency-based design strategy to maintain curriculum that is current, effective, and relevant to the designated discipline.
  • Contributes to curricula by assisting in design, implementation, and review aligned with current or emerging community, state, or national needs.
  • Participates in continuous improvement of student learning and success by gathering data, analyzing data, engaging with peers and internal and external stakeholders, and implementing change as a result.
c. Professionalism: Collaborates and actively reflects on responsibilities to positively contribute to one's discipline, Pathway, the College, and the greater community.
  • Maintains professionalism by embodying the values, ethics, and behavior codes of LCCC and one's discipline.
  • Demonstrates social competence and effective communication in professional and academic venues.
  • Actively contributes to the college and one's Pathway, department, or designated discipline by engaging in expanding institutional connections and professional development, and by displaying commitment to the profession.? PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
  • An employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be instances of somewhat loud environments.

Education and Experience Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in a related field in the Pathway.
  • Two years of teaching experience or two years of experience working in education, or a field or industry related to the Pathway.
  • Experience in planning and coordination of events or activities that bring numerous, diverse individuals and groups together in an interactive format.
  • Experience in effective communication strategies to motivate and encourage individuals to act or engage.
*In lieu of the required degree, candidates with equivalent professional experience, industry certifications, or a combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree from an accredited institution, preferably in a field related to the Pathway.
  • Two years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Three years of experience coordinating or managing programs, faculty and/or staff in a collegiate setting.
  • Three years of experience teaching in an accredited community college setting
