We’re seeking a Site Development Group Leader to lead and grow our Site Development Group in the Austin and Round Rock markets. This leadership role works closely with Senior Leadership to shape the group’s vision, strategic direction, and long-term growth. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise, business acumen, and a people-focused leadership style—leading by example while helping others progress in their careers.


What You’ll Do

As a Site Development Group Leader, you’ll:

Lead Vision, Strategy, and Growth

  • Partner with Senior Leadership to develop and execute the group’s short- and long-term vision and strategic growth plan.
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the Site Development Group, including staffing, budgeting, performance, and deliverables.
  • Monitor financial metrics and make adjustments to support profitability and sustainable growth.
  • Stay current on engineering trends, tools, and best practices to guide technical and operational improvements.

Drive Business Development

  • Build and strengthen relationships with developers, builders, municipal agencies, and other key clients.
  • Lead business development planning and execution for current and prospective clients.
  • Identify growth opportunities across clients, regions, and service offerings.
  • Coordinate business development efforts with other GBA groups and market leaders.
  • Support proposal strategies, proposal writing and review, scope development, and fee estimates.
  • Help define strategies for winning work in competitive markets.

Oversee Financial and Risk Management

  • Maintain accountability for utilization, invoicing, and proactive management of accounts receivable.
  • Track and execute the annual business plan.
  • Lead scope and fee negotiations and ensure contracts are reviewed and executed prior to project start.
  • Oversee contract performance to manage scope, risk, and profitability.

Develop and Support Teams

  • Advocate for, mentor, coach, and develop staff at all levels.
  • Provide input on promotions, compensation adjustments, and bonus decisions.
  • Oversee staffing and resource allocation to meet project and business needs.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and retention efforts in collaboration with Senior Leadership, peers, and direct reports.
  • Lead and support succession planning while encouraging senior staff to mentor others.
  • Foster a positive, rewarding work environment aligned with GBA’s commitment to delivering remarkable solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to staff on project delivery, quality, schedules, and client relationships.
  • Promote collaboration across offices, departments, and market groups.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license (required).
  • 10+ years of experience in land development, including project management, supervision, and client relationship management.
  • Strong business development experience with the ability to grow and sustain client relationships.
  • Solid technical design and project management background; experience with public work is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
  • Proven ability to build strong internal partnerships across disciplines and teams.
  • Business-oriented mindset with a focus on profitability, growth, and long-term success.
  • Demonstrated experience balancing financial, marketing, staffing, and operational responsibilities within an engineering group.
