POSITION DESCRIPTION


TITLE: Grant Writer

REPORTS TO: Director of Development

Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt


PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Grant Writer is directly responsible for a portfolio of foundation, corporate and public funders including research, writing & submission of all grant proposals. In addition to writing compelling letters of intent and grant proposals in a timely manner, the grant writer will actively participate in the grants management process in partnership with the CDO, DOD, COO, CFO, operations team and additional grant team members.The Grant Writer will partner with the CDO, DOD & grant team in the creation and execution of an annual grants plan and budget.


KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Maintain extensive knowledge of the Club's mission, programs, target population, and strategic vision to enhance the preparation of proposals and written communications. Write and submit excellent and compelling letters of inquiry and grant proposals in a timely manner.

Assist the CDO, DOD, COO, CFO and operations team on a regular basis to manage restricted and unrestricted grant awards.

Assist with larger government grants, as needed.

Actively work with the DOD to develop an annual grants calendar and budget projections utilizing Bloomerang.

Become a content expert on BGCSENC programs and expected outcomes. Work with Grant Consultant to continuously maintain updated, accurate, high-quality boilerplate proposal language and general information bank for use by RD Team and others. Utilize Vee.com
whenever possible for grant writing and ensure we are "training" the AI function.

Work closely with the CDO and leadership team to understand the organization's funding needs and align grant requests with priority needs.

Work closely with the operations team to develop meaningful grant proposals with realistic outcomes and deliverables.

Ensure follow-through on grant-related deliverables and collect timely data and evaluations for donor communication.

Coordinate with the CDO, DOD, COO and finance officer to develop budgets for proposals and financial reports.

Update fundraising database with relevant donor information and track proposals and actions utilizing Bloomerang.

Maintain outstanding communication with finance and operations staff to ensure fulfillment of grant expectations and reporting requirements.

Produce funding reports and donor lists as needed by the finance department, resource development team and board members.


Other Responsibilities

1. Assist with database management.

2. Provide valuable input and strategic thinking to Resource Development overall goals and annual fundraising plan.

3. Other duties as assigned to by Chief Development Officer or CEO.


PREFERRED

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, etc.).

Five years of experience in grant writing, management, and reporting.

Strong organizational and project management skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Familiarity with fundraising platforms and grant management tools is a plus.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This is largely a sedentary role. However, it may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. No personal protective equipment is required. Travel to Club sites is required, as well as some outdoor activity. Mileage reimbursement is provided for travel outside assigned counties.
