About the Job
 

Bargaining unit consideration begins on 4/29/2026 and ends on 5/6/2026

Under general supervision from the Library Director, the Library Assistant (classification: 4996) works independently to provide library support services in both a physical and digital space. This position is responsible for processing of physical and electronic collections and providing a variety of administrative support. 
Functions and Duties:

  • Processing of physical collections, including copy cataloging and metadata maintenance. 
  • Provide administrative clerical support for the Roger D. Moe Library and University Archive. 
  • Prepare credit card and business expense reports.
  • Manage library budget processes, including paying invoices for annual database/periodical renewals.
  • Participate in reference services for the library.
  • Assist at the front desk when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of college coursework and/or relevant library experience. 
  • Demonstrated self-awareness, cultural competence, and achievement in working with diverse student populations;
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and communication skills; 
  • Excellent computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office, Google Suite, and Adobe.  
  • Final offer contingent on successful background verification check, verification of ability to work in the United States, and receipt of official college transcripts..

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or three years of college education plus two years of relevant library experience or five years of relevant library experience; 
  • Experience in a higher education library setting; 
  • Experience with integrated library systems, preferably Alma/Primo;
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; 
  • Ability to quickly learn new skills and adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to the land-grant mission of the University of Minnesota Crookston, especially as related to access and student success.
Pay and Benefits
 

Pay Rate: $23.59 per hour. 

Time Appointment: 25%-50% Appointment (15-20 hours per week) (9-month appointment)

Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
