Under the supervision of the Summer Camp Manager, the Equestrian Assistant attends to the health of all livestock and maintains the functionality and safety of farm related areas and equipment. The major responsibilities of this position include the following but are not limited to:
General Responsibilities
  • Prepare and care for all farm animals used for programming including (but not limited to): feeding, grooming, saddling and administration of medical treatments
  • Repair and maintain animal equipment and structures
  • Clean and organize horse tack and livestock enclosures
  • Secure designated areas, equipment and supplies
  • Maintain continuous inventory of supplies and report needs
  • Complete all required logs and documentation
  • Comply with Health and Fire Department regulations, organizational policies and accreditation standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements
  • Exhibit the ability to work well within the Pathfinder Ranch organization and with other employees.
  • Provide excellent customer service and interaction in a friendly and professional manner to all clients, residents, vendors, contractors and fellow employees.
  • Complete tasks independently and in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Safely use hand and power tools such as shovels, rakes, saws, sprayers, trimmers
  • Follow established Company policies
  • Communicate effectively and carryout oral/written instruction.
  • 18 years of age or older

Physical Requirements
  • Exerting and lifting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently
  • Work in excess of 8 hours per day
  • Ability to perform duties for entire shift (5 or more hours)
  • Ability to work on steep and uneven terrain in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain or snow
  • Ability to work with horses, livestock and other animals
