Job Summary

Part-time Security Officer 1 employees may be considered for future employment as police officers when such positions are available.

Job Duties

  • Maintains good working relationships with local law enforcement agencies and emergency management agencies.
  • Enforces campus policies and procedures.
  • Completes preliminary offenses reports when those are committed on campus and a certified police officer is unavailable.
  • Forwards same to a certified officer for investigation and completion.
  • Properly uses and maintains all law enforcement equipment.
  • Properly and accurately prepares reports. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and a valid Tennessee operator license issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety are required.
Meets the requirements of TCA 38-8-106, Qualifications of Police Officers:
Be at least eighteen (18) years of age;
Be a citizen of the United States;
Be a high school graduate or possess equivalency;
Not have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substances;
Not have been released or discharged under any other than honorable discharge from any of the armed forces of the United States;
Have a good moral character as determined by a thorough investigation conducted by the employing agency.
