Under the Direction of the Technical Manager of AV/IT Services , the part-time Audio Visual Technician will assist in the setup, operation, and dismantling of audiovisual (AV) equipment for events at the War Memorial Coliseum. This role supports the Technical Manager of AV/IT Services by ensuring smooth technical operations, troubleshooting equipment issues, and maintaining AV gear during events such as concerts, sports, and meetings. This position is Not Covered (at-will) as defined by The Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assists in setting up, operating, and dismantling AV equipment for various events.
  • Supports the Technical Manager of AV/IT Services with sound reinforcement and lighting setup as needed.
  • Transports and installs media equipment, such as speakers, monitors, and cameras.
  • Runs preliminary tests on AV systems to ensure functionality before events.
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues during events to ensure smooth operation.
  • Performs basic repairs and routine maintenance under the supervision of the Technical Manager of AV/IT Services .
  • Assists with programming and performing electrical wiring tasks as directed.
  • Collaborates with the Technical Manager of AV/IT Services to meet client needs and ensure successful event execution.
  • Maintains positive relationships with clients and event organizers.
  • Coordinates with AV staff to ensure timely setup and smooth operations.
  • Cleans, organizes, and maintains AV equipment.
  • Manages inventory of AV equipment, cables, and accessories.
  • Performs regular maintenance checks and updates software on AV systems.
  • Provides support for events, including concerts, meetings, and commencements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including additional hours as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma or GED with three years' experience in sports and/or event production or related field
  • Certificates in AV production preferred
  • Valid Driver's License to operate County owned vehicles
  • Knowledge of arena scoring equipment to troubleshoot problems and operate the equipment
  • Knowledge of AV production logistics to plan, prepare, and set-up productions appealing to clients and guests
  • Ability to work in a high stress environment with time constraints
  • Knowledge of electricity to pull cables, create custom video/data cables, and troubleshoot issues
  • Ability to work well in a team to complete tasks and goals given to the AV production team
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues that arise during live productions
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, holidays, and weekends to work events
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office and other job related software

PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:
The part-time Audio Visual Technician works with other county employees and the general public when assisting with the production of all AV productions with the War Memorial Coliseum.

The role includes exposure to extreme noise, dangerous equipment, forklifts, heavy machinery, and confined spaces.
