Part-time Business Manager - Job Description:
Overview:
The Business Manager supports the mission and all operations of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish and related ministries, apostolates and societies. The role oversees all accounting and administrative functions, including accounts receivable/payable, payroll, human resources paperwork, budget preparation, tax filings, diocesan reporting and special filings, contracts and the like related to fundraising events. The position also supports all the fundraising efforts of the parish which include primarily but not only the Mt. Carmel festival, Chicken BBQ and Fall Festival/carnival. The Business Manager will have the special support of a Fund-Raising Coordinator in all the above-mentioned tasks but especially in fundraising and special events. Some evening or weekend work will be required for special projects and events. There will also be a Parish Bookkeeper.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, and account reconciliation for St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish, Little Cubs, and Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
• Process bi-weekly payroll and maintain accurate tax and retirement records.
• Prepare and monitor annual budgets for both the parish, cemetery, and Little Cubs Preschool.
• Coordinate with parish secretary and other staff for the ordering of all necessary supplies.
• Complete annual reports for the Diocese and Workers' Safety and Insurance (WSI).
• Supervise Holy Sepulchre Cemetery finances, sales and related administrative needs in coordination with the pastor, cemetery staff and Assistant Business Manager.
• Manage, Update and train in the use of ParishSoft.
• Meet weekly with the pastor to discuss parish finances and strategies.
• Human resources.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or 10+ years of accounting experience preferred.
• Proficiency or willingness to learn software including DocuSign, Excel, Word, ParishSoft ConnectNow, ParishSoft Family Directory and AI apps.
• Strong organizational, managerial, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail with solid keyboarding and 10-key skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Commitment to living in accordance with Catholic teachings and values as expressed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Hours
• 20 but will fluctuate
Wage
• $34,000-$36,000 depending on experience

St. Mary of the Mt. Carmel serves the Hammonton area of Southern New Jersey. It is the entity that was formed from three parishes: St. Joseph; St. Anthony and St. Martin. Hammonton is a wonderful tight knit community traditionally of Italian background however with a significant Latino/Hispanic Spanish speaking population. The town itself has a charming downtown area surrounded by farms and suburbs. The parish has a rich Catholic history served for over a hundred years by the Pallotine Fathers and the Religious Sisters Filippini.
