Job Summary

City's Packaging Supervisor is essential to ensuring our high-speed canning, bottling, and kegging lines run as efficiently and safely as possible. This individual collaborates heavily with other departments including Brewing/Batching, Warehousing, and Quality to obtain timely production results. The Packaging Supervisor participates in quality control checks, ensures proper on-hand materials to complete scheduled production, and compiles production metrics to share with plant leadership. As the shift leader, this role also provides direction and coaching to Packaging Operators on safety procedures, equipment operations, and ensures team member development and growth.


Shift Schedule: This role will work a 2-2-3 schedule


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures safety procedures are followed by adherence to Company policies which include strict GMP and HACCP practices
  • Conducts front line quality checks to meet City's quality standards
  • Recommends measures to maintain safe operations, improve production methods, and enhance the efficiency of equipment performance
  • Identifies continuous improvement opportunities
  • Leads shift change meetings and daily directional settings with the department to identify goals and watch-outs before starting the shift
  • Understands the production schedule so that materials needed are requested and available, and the sequence of production is communicated to the line team
  • Composes weekly staffing schedules based on production requirements to ensure seamless operations and limit overtime
  • Participates in the appropriate selection and usage of resources (materials, systems, utilities and equipment) required
  • Confers with site leadership team and departmental team members to coordinate activities to assure a safe environment, quality product, and product operations
  • Suggests and initiates recognition activities to encourage team and reward high performers
  • Provides real-time feedback to team members to mitigate any potential safety issues and identify opportunities for development
  • Initiates personnel actions such as performance evaluations and disciplinary measures
  • Facilitates daily shift debriefs with team members
  • Checks and approve hours worked for hourly employees on the lines
  • Assists in internal auditing, such as GMP, HACCP and Safety
  • Ensures compliance with Internal, Federal, State and local guidelines and regulations including GMP, HACCP, OSHA, FDA and TTB
  • Checks the machinery of the lines for operational readiness and proper setup
  • Oversee the operations of the lines during production; collaborates with team members to resolve challenges as they arise
  • Directs changeovers so that proper materials are utilized, production goals are met, and all appropriate codes are used per the bill of materials
  • Leads shutdown activities to ensure the all machinery, conveyors, air, CO2, water and chain lube is shut off
  • Audits, records, and communicates case counts
  • Initiates work orders for repairs or improvements needed on the lines; communicates as needed with Maintenance team to ensure appropriate action is taken
  • Works with the Training Manager to supervise training of employees in operations, safety, quality standards, GMP’s and HACCP procedure

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or other related field, preferred
  • High school diploma, GED, or other equivalent degree
  • Experience managing and mentoring large teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with high-speed manufacturing, preferred
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite especially MS Excel
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the needs of a 24/7 operation
