About the Opportunity
Our client, a global leader in the beauty industry, is seeking a Packaging Production Designer to join its fast-paced creative team. This is an exciting opportunity to help bring innovative beauty products to life by combining strong conceptual design skills with technical packaging production expertise.
We're looking for a designer who thrives in a collaborative environment and can seamlessly move from concept development to production-ready execution. The ideal candidate has extensive experience creating packaging graphics, developing dielines, and producing polished 2D and 3D packaging renderings while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and brand consistency.
This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week onsite and offers the opportunity for long-term growth. The initial engagement is a 6-month contract with a 2-week technical trial period, with the potential to extend in 6-month increments for up to two years. Previous consultants in this role have successfully converted into full-time opportunities within the organization.
What You'll Do
  • Design and develop innovative packaging concepts from initial ideation through final production.
  • Create production-ready artwork for primary and secondary packaging while adhering to brand standards.
  • Develop accurate dielines and packaging specifications for manufacturing.
  • Produce high-quality 2D and 3D packaging renderings for internal presentations and stakeholder reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Product Development, Creative, and cross-functional teams to ensure packaging solutions meet both creative and technical requirements.
  • Partner with vendors and production partners to ensure designs are manufacturable and production-ready.
  • Manage multiple packaging projects simultaneously while meeting aggressive timelines.
  • Organize and maintain packaging assets, templates, artwork files, fonts, and production documentation.
  • Research packaging trends, materials, and competitive products to bring innovative ideas to the team.

Qualifications
Required
  • 5+ years of packaging design experience (packaging-specific experience strongly preferred).
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating both conceptual packaging design and technical production work.
  • Experience creating dielines and production-ready packaging artwork.
  • Experience designing both 2D and 3D packaging.
  • Working knowledge of Rhino or SolidWorks to create or manipulate 3D packaging models and renderings.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Experience using Figma.
  • Ability to work within established brand guidelines while delivering creative solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
  • Mac proficiency with basic Mac/PC troubleshooting skills.
Preferred
  • Experience within the beauty, cosmetics, luxury, CPG, food & beverage, or toy packaging industries.
  • Knowledge of packaging regulations, ingredient labeling, or consumer product packaging.
  • Experience conducting market research and competitive analysis.
  • Familiarity with PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, and project management tools.
  • Formal education in Graphic Design or an Art School background is a plus, but portfolio and relevant experience are valued more highly than degree.

What We're Looking For
This role is ideal for a hybrid designer who is equally comfortable with creative concept development and technical production execution. You'll be successful if you can quickly translate ideas into polished, production-ready packaging while balancing creativity with manufacturing feasibility.
The ideal candidate is self-sufficient, works efficiently with minimal direction, and excels in a fast-moving environment with quick turnaround times. While candidates with 3-4 years of experience may be considered if they have an exceptional portfolio, the preference is for someone with 5+ years of packaging experience who can hit the ground running.
Additional Information
  • Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite
  • Initial 6-month contract
  • 2-week technical trial period
  • Potential extensions in 6-month increments up to 2 years
  • Portfolio required
  • Interview process includes an initial interview, a brief packaging design assessment, and a final interview.
