Job description

Packaging Supervisor

Gannett Publishing Services

Canton, OH

Canton Packaging Department is looking for a full-time Packaing Supervisor in Canton, OH for Gannett Publishing Services.  The candidate will be responsible for the operation, scheduling, staffing, quality control and accountability of all Packaging department functions.  

Must be able to interface with other company departments and external customers to promote quality customer service and productivity.  Must be able to plan and implement systems, activities and processes.  

Must be able to motivate, discipline when necessary, and maintain necessary personnel records and procedures.  Must stay current with packaging and production systems.  Must be able to efficiently direct the work force to optimize productivity.  Must be able to work within deadline constraints and maintain a safe workplace.   

EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

College degree preferred or some college with equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE:

Two years’ experience in newspaper Packaging department management/supervision, exposure to production deadlines and environment.

KNOWLEDGE:

Must be up to date with current Packaging process, equipment and systems.

 

SKILLS:

Must be competent in Microsoft Office, Packaging software experience helpful.  Must be able to plan, communicate, implement and assess complicated production plans and schedules.  Must be well organized, diligent and able to motivate work force.

SPECIFIC ABILITIES:

Must be able to manage and facilitate production effectively and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to work odd hours and be available in case of emergencies or due to production problems.
